Ok guys, think about what you are saying.

You want the top 1, 2, 5, 10 or whatever guys TO MOVE UP. Fine..

But if they have to move up the next year, that means they are going to have to beg, borrow or steal a car that meets mini-stock rules. Right??? So why didn't they just do that in the 1st place!!! The guy was running the 4-funs, because he can't afford a 50 dollar race seat and a decent cage, so why would he have the money to actaully build a race car the next year? what do you do then???? Not realistic, but it show my point on why you don't need a 4 fun class...

Ross if you want to race you're gonna do whatever you have to do. Saving a few grand over the off season should be attainable for anyone, if it isn't then you have other problems which you should be looking after. I had to wait until I was 33 years old to be in the financial position to race. Some weeks to be honest it's tough to run a TC with no cash sponsors. I would rather drive my TC with no firesuit (not that I would ever THINK about doing that) than a car with a stock fuel tank or a marine tank.

This isn't about affordability, it's about people wanting to race and put a beating on other competitors without spending any money. Just my opinion again.

What about paying a certain amount to the Charger champion, but doubling that amount if he moves up to Mini-Stock for the following season?

I raced 4-fun for three years and believed i had one of the safest cars out there. My parents would never have let me go on the track without a fire suit and a partial roll cage. i beleive i paid about 225 for my car. we did all of the work ourselves except for the exhaust. a fire suit ran me about another 200 bucks. i used a marine tank fuel cell BUT it was surrounded by a very strong steel box placed in the most reasonable spot to avoid any damage. the tank cost about 20 bucks and my dad welded in the stock fuel pump. seat belts and window net ran another 140. we looked around the areas for local welding shops that may have had some extra tubing laying around. we found some that was a little rusty BUT was a thicker wall then the minimum stated in the rules. we picked up more than enough tubing for about 50 bucks and spent a day and a bit cuting, fitting and welding. some more money was spent on odds and ends and a parts car. In the end all the work resulted in one fast and SAFE 4-fun car with the total cost being under the $700 claimer rule...so to say a car cannot be safe and cheap is not true..i understand not everyone has the tools or skill to do things like build there own cage, but in my opinion its a good idea to spend that little extra if it may save your life one day.

and if theres guys out there buying new tires for there 4-fun cars i think there nuts..heck i still use free junkyard tires on my ministock

Aren't you the guy Ben who is using a $200 junkyard engine in your car? And blowing everyone away?

But you're right you can build a decent car for a couple thousand dollars.
