I don't agree with killing the division entirely. Make it based on the 4 cyl. division with the PROPER safety equipment meaning full roll cages and firesuit are mandatory!!!
JMO!
And doing that, the rules would be different that mini-stock how??
Don't kill the drivers LOL Make the cars meet a minimum standard, which is mini-stock. That will kill the division making it redundant
1985 Honda Civic sitting in my pit for sale cheap cheap cheap just needs motor which Triple M in Barrie had one last year for $250.
The 4 funs have had less of a problem then other divisions. BSW last year had injuries in their charger division and they had more safety equipment. I am all for added safety equipment but you can't drive the cost up and you can't make them equal to roadrunners (they never will be with automatics).
Fire suit should be a given, a enduro style cage should be the new minimum (can be built cheap enough or purchased for $230), race seat gives an advantage so may have to be left out of new rules, teching has to be done on all cars not just the top 3 which would include even something as simple as a brake inspection!!!
Harold I do not understand how an aluminum racing seat is a performance advantage. It really isn't all that hard to pull the seat out of the floor, especially if the car is rotten, as most candidates for race cars are. If you choose to race without the seat that's fine, but I would not race in a worn out bucket seat, I used to own taxi's and they broke all the time. I replaced a seat maybe once a year. They break right where the seat folds up.
Barrie had injuries yes, but most of those (in my opinion) were caused by someone being too agressive and overdriving their car. (and maybe not enough black flying in the breeze)
Safety equipment makes the cost to get in the game greater, it is true. But if someone doesn't care about protecting themselves from harm, how are we to protect them? Racing is inherently dangerous. So let's say something did happen, God forbid, and the government outlawed Stock Car Racing in this province? Where would we be then? Don't think it couldn't happen.

Its also expensive... But you can find racing seats used for under 50 bucks. We all have them kicking around. Heck I have 3 seats, none of which I paid any more that 100 for. The fact that someone won't spend 50 bucks and or can't install one is why they shouldn't be on the track.
If you don't have a cage, what the the belts installed to? If you do have a cage, your belts are to that, and your seat is stock to the floor, what happens is the car get twisted? You get squished to death by your belts!!
Forget about the province outlawing racing, have a few acidents, get some lawyers involved, insurance goes up, it could be over before the next race night...
To be quite honest I believe Chargers was started because there was too many Pure Stock cars showing up. The drivers were seperated according to their experience.
I disagree Spencer. To spend an extra say $1000 to make a car safe is not going to kill the class (but lack of safety might). How many of those four funs are running Falken Azeni (or comparable) tires. If you can afford those, or afford to make your car as fast as a regular four cylinder, you can move up. I believe sometime drivers will stay in a lower class and not move up just so they can dominate. Some people don't want to get involved with the 8 cylinders either...
Maybe four fun drivers should be held to one year of competition.
well the azenis arent allowed in four fun...so...
