To be quite honest I believe Chargers was started because there was too many Pure Stock cars showing up. The drivers were seperated according to their experience.
I disagree Spencer. To spend an extra say $1000 to make a car safe is not going to kill the class (but lack of safety might). How many of those four funs are running Falken Azeni (or comparable) tires. If you can afford those, or afford to make your car as fast as a regular four cylinder, you can move up. I believe sometime drivers will stay in a lower class and not move up just so they can dominate. Some people don't want to get involved with the 8 cylinders either...
Maybe four fun drivers should be held to one year of competition.
Kill the 4 fun all together.
If someone dosn't have the time, skill or money to build to mini-stock rules, they should not be on the track. Decent turn-key minis can be had for $500.
As for the drivers learning, you can learn anywhere. Tell them, they are not Earnhart and to a) hold the low line, and b) move aside for anything and everything. Try and follow the faster drivers when out of the way, and learn from that.
From what I've seen its mostly a field of poorly prepared cars, run in a desperate attempt to increase interest in their track.
It's as foolish as running a hockey league with no gear required, because you can't find enough players interested in putting a decent effort into it…
That did not take long. 2 words, House league and Shinny. Sorry that was 3. 🙂
Hey if anyone knows a mini stock for $500 let me know and I will buy it.
I think no matter what we can all agree that the 4 Fun division if left the way it is, is simply a disaster waiting to happen.
I don't agree with killing the division entirely. Make it based on the 4 cyl. division with the PROPER safety equipment meaning full roll cages and firesuit are mandatory!!!
There are too many cars to just scrap the division, but make improvements to it can only help the driver's safety...because no matter what, that's the most important thing!
JMO!

Look around. Mike Nelson from Peterborough was trying to sell his for around $1,000. Didn't get any offers and just ran it in an endro. Another guy was trying to sell Wayne Croft's old car for $1,000 and wasn't getting any offers.
