i think the cars need to be safer. safety is first for me and my mom and dad, they wont let me get into a car that is not 100% safe, thats one of the reasons im still not on the track. i was at sunset when a car was on fire buddys lucky he didnt catch on fire cause he wasnt wearing a fire suit.
i spent $900 on the car, $1000 on the motor, $170 or something on my fire suit, $50 on my helmet cause i bought it from my dads friend that used to race thunder car at barrie. and atleast $200 on other parts and stuff i needed. oh and yes this is a 16 year old that was going to school and working almost everynight and i paid for it all myself, that was the deal i made with my parents i wanna race so i gotta pay, it sucks but its teaching me responsibility and now when my mom asks me at the end of this year when i figure out how much money i made all year what i spent my money on instead of saying stupid things like a camera or a phone or an iPod i can say i bought a race car, a SAFE raceacar!
That's really admirable.... and something that you should be very proud of. There is nothing better than having the independance to do something for yourself.
thank-you 🙂
Harold I do not understand how an aluminum racing seat is a performance advantage. It really isn't all that hard to pull the seat out of the floor, especially if the car is rotten, as most candidates for race cars are. If you choose to race without the seat that's fine, but I would not race in a worn out bucket seat, I used to own taxi's and they broke all the time. I replaced a seat maybe once a year. They break right where the seat folds up.
Barrie had injuries yes, but most of those (in my opinion) were caused by someone being too agressive and overdriving their car. (and maybe not enough black flying in the breeze)
Safety equipment makes the cost to get in the game greater, it is true. But if someone doesn't care about protecting themselves from harm, how are we to protect them? Racing is inherently dangerous. So let's say something did happen, God forbid, and the government outlawed Stock Car Racing in this province? Where would we be then? Don't think it couldn't happen.
Well said Thunder 6. You get the point totally. I don't think anyone expects these cars to run like 4 cylinders. The issue was safety. If you can't afford to be safe in racing, YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO RACE PERIOD!!!!

Why wouldn't you epect them to run like the regular mini-stocks??? What is the differance between a 4-fun with belts, seat, cell, cage, and the mini-stock??? By the time you've put the safety into the car, THAT SHOULD BE THERE, ITS IS A MINI-STOCK.
Other than a poor car model choice, Falcon tires, and more camber...

That is very responsible Terry-Lynn. I paid for everything myself too, and it teaches you not to abuse your equipment when you are out there racing. I think the only time I got damage was from somebody's else's stupidity on the track. Can't wait too see you out there racing. It's always good to have a veteran driver in your household that knows all about safety! Dad is the same way.
