So let's have mandatory fire suits, racing seat and belts that are somehow attached to the roll bars that were installed. This wouldn't cost that much at all, and in the eye of safety would be great for the division!

Now the 1 million dollar question, how would a SAFE 4 fun car, as described above, be different from a legal (not the fastest car on the track) mini-stock? Answer, it isn't cept for Falcon tires.. Its as silly as having a divison for slow LLM and fast LLM, or crappy built LLM and well built LLM.
You missed the fuel cell vs the gas tank. The issue with the stock tank is not nesically that it is stock, it should be reasonably strong. The problem is size. Gas dosn't explode, it just burns, gas fumes slightly compressed expoled. Since I doubt may are out there with a full 30-40 lt fuel load, that mean they have possibly 35 lt in area of gas vapor, which is basically a big bomb.
Ross your comment about a division for fast llm and slow llm is excactly what the charger division is at barrie for mini stocks. Now as for the diferences from four fun to mini stock are, H rated tires and above are not allowed, a tire size rule, a no camber rule, a racing rim rule, automatic transmissions only with few exceptions. Battery must remain in stock location. There is no weight rule, so no gutting no 55% left side percentage. Stock ride height not an inch below or like Sunset a 5inch ride height. So there are quite a few diferences that's why I said put the cage and the racing seat in them, make them all have stock fuel cells, then if a car gets to fast they have a solid base to start off with and are a safe for either division at that point.
And I'm saying that are simlar enough, proven by your sugestion that a fast car could move up, that there isn't a need for the 4-fun class.... My point would be its silly to have a "fast" and a "slow" LLM class. Its silly to have a 4-fun in the first place.
Stock battery location is yet another bomb waiting to happen rule. The battery gives off Hydrogen gas, and has hydrogen gas inside it and you put it up where it can be broken. Also you can get body metal bent in a crash, causing a short between to 2 poles. yet another bomb, filled with acid and could well create a red hot metal surface right near it. What are you saving by not moving the battery? 10 cents in bolts, 10 bucks in wire, and 20 for a battery box? $30.10 is going to make or break someone from racing?? Heck that won't even get you and a friend/crew into the backgate at the track... There just isn't anything good and or safe about the rules...
The "h" tire rule, who cares. Whoever takes the time and money to put into tires is going to spend the same as falkins and is still going to have "the tire" for the class.
For safty sake throw out the entire 4-fun rule book, and if you must, as silly as it seems to me, break them up into fast and slow mini-stock (upper lever whatever it may be called) classes...
Tell me where I can get brand new Falkens right now and I will buy them...cause I know people who are looking high and low and Falken isnt making them right now.
Is there room for saftey to be improved yes by all means.....but when you go mini stock racing what car is dominating right now HONDA........Kawartha the 4 fastest cars there are hondas....the top 5 or 6 at Sunset are Hondas......in four fun right now the points leader is a Geo followed by a Mazda 323, a Nissan Stanza, a VW Rabbit. This is a division where not everyone has to go out and find a 16v Honda to be fast. Its a division ment to teach give them the basics....one again the list of driver that have come out of Four Fun is insane... Joe Ireton, Ben and Billy Melenhorst, Marshall Pender, Harold Noseworthy, Corey Lehman, Nick Brown, John Kaszab, Blair Pearson and Matt Box to name a few. The saftey aspect of the division needs to come up but the core roots need to be there....that and having a 60 car mini stock division at Sunset is jsut retarded as we only qualify 24 cars a nights.
Now my question to you is when they started Thunder cars back in im gonna say the early 90's and then ran stock bucket seats and seat belts, very few bars did you try to have the division done away with?
