no one wants to build one is the only problem, at sauble you can run a v6 can but no one has built one to see if they can compete...
yes the fans are a big part of it,but really how many go home at night an say, damn there wasnt any good wrecks tonight?
years ago we started the king of the hill at varney,we took old street cars did our little race winner moved on,so on ,after that we took all of the king of the hill cars out at once, they gave us a few laps, but we used every inch of that car an beat the piss out of them, the fans dindt no we were going to do it,they thought we were all crazy wreckin our street cars
varney seen how much the fans liked it,what did they do?? took it away from us! what about what the fans wanted to see?? prove my point!
the 6cyl class should have a price on it like the old enduro cars did,the track could buy your car at any time for under a 1000,this will keep them from going all crazy spending money an cheatin them up!!
sorry but if i was new an wanted to start racin i think id run a street stock not a 6 banger! just sayin
At the last Enduro there was an old metric Regal or Cutlass with a 231 in it. It went around there quite nicely.
Personally, I want to run something that is rear wheel drive with a small block at a reasonable price, if the two first factors weren't an issue I'd run a Mini. The direction I would like to see SS go is keep your engine rules, change your platform to extended cab S10's and Ranger(for a bit of wheelbase, also more cockpit room for cage). Allow them to lower them to 6" or 8" off the ground, possibly allow offset rims to create a little more track width and throw in the small block and go racing. For every Metric car you find at the bone-yard I'll find a dozen of these,Instead of being forced to buy after market parts because of availability (ie. control arms, body parts, etc.) which is a portion of SS and Thunder car car count problems. Grandfather your existing SS for 1 year not any longer because I think the truck guys will be frustrated trying to be competitive with the cars, set ride heights the same while there is both platforms running together so contact won't create too much carnage . With Varney's and even Sauble's locale I can't believe a economical V8 truck class wouldn't go and let's face it a couple more years your not going to find a Metric chassis that is solid enough to race.
