Find a decent solid car. Buy a used cage. Cut it in half and fit it in. The car that won the feature last week at Flamboro cost $250 to build that way. The engine is different tho because another driver last year blew it up by mistake, but its the same car. But it was on the track racing for $250 not including the seat, cell, net and belts. I have another in my driveway, 92 Shadow $100 and a CSC cage I bought used for $100 from a thundercar driver. The cage was actually still in the stripped car, so after I cut it out and scrapped the shell I made money. 3 years ago I bought a used CSC cage and fuel cell in a can, seat with supports and 3 year old belts for $300 off a driver that was quitting. The deals are out there if you look. Its a safe and cheap way to do it. I sleeve the 2 halo bars at the top and run new dash and rear seat bars, then new supports up from them to the sleeved areas. You could build one in a weekend, and weve done many and have won heats and even features.
If you check all the web sites there are lots of minis for under $1000 and lots of used seats and cells.
I keep seeing a honda for $500 on one. If I didnt live in the city I would be buying it, but the Shadow and thundercar are enough.

If someone dosn't have the time, skill or money to build to mini-stock rules, they should not be on the track. Decent turn-key minis can be had for $500.
sorry but u can't get any turn key mini's for $500 thats crazy talk that almost covers the cage nevermind all the other crap oh yah u have to buy the car too ask anybody who built there own mini and i'm sure they will say they have more then $500 into it

Look around. Mike Nelson from Peterborough was trying to sell his for around $1,000. Didn't get any offers and just ran it in an endro. Another guy was trying to sell Wayne Croft's old car for $1,000 and wasn't getting any offers.

It wasn't junk, it was a mid pack car. Good to learn with, running mini-stock not wasting time in 4-fun. And for less than it would cost to build any SAFE car...
You can want all you like for you car, but right now with the economy, cars are not selling. If one were to lose their job, a $3,000 car would become a $500 dollar car real quick.. Don't beleive me, look around yourself.
