I've seen those Ross, good finds though.
I probably should have clarified though, I'm looking for turn-key, as any major work needed, I would have to haul from Peterborough (where I live), back to my grandpas shop in Newmarket. But you are correct saying those first 2 could be finished for less than a $1,000
lmao that hyundai excel posted would have to weigh 300 pounds more as a mini and would get lapped in 5 laps at any track....may be safe, but noone likes seeing the leader in there mirror 5 laps into the race..and i know it was my buddies car...i believe he got 450 for it
Again, I didn't say you are going to buy a turn key mini-stock champion car for $500... Even if you could in the hands of a driver thats never been on the track, its going to be 5 laps down anyhow.
No the Hyundia wouldn't be my first choice, but unless I'm wrong, its a SOHC cam under 2.0 engine allowing it to be in the lowest weight group... I don't see how a 4 fun, that shouldn't be skinned ect can weight 300 lbs less than a mini....

Gritsy, you are going to need a better plan than that.. A turn key is not going to make you though a season, there is always "major" work that will need to be done to make it through a season. Just something to consider. What it would take to fixup those cars, would be inline with repairing after a wreck...
I haven't been to Peterborough where I assume you'd be running this year, but from past years, that would be the perfect example of not wasting your time in 4-funs and going dirrectly into mini-stock. Kawartha on the other hand, I don't think you'd want to start out there without any track time. Ironical that Peterborough has 4 funs and Kawartha dosn't LOL
Good point Ross. And yes I know in the long run I need to get my own stuff, just can't buy everything up front obviously.
just because it says $1200 doesnt mean it wont go for less....i bought a complete dirt racecar...complete...30 over, cell, tires, rims, seat, extra gears and body for $300 a week before christmas...he was asking $1500 in november...I called and asked if he still had it and I only took $300 with me, I thought for a down payment...he took it...the wife wanted it gone that bad he told me...the frame ended up being bent, but I sold the rearend and tranny, have the engine for a spare, cell and cage went in a mini and scrapped the rest for $275.
deals are out there.
