Are the rules so different that the Delaware and Flamboro cars couldn't be competetive? It's a 125 lb weight penalty (2850 for ACT cars vs 2975 for Del/Flam) for the big crate engine. Surely that's not enough for top runners like Shaw and Hooker to not even make the attempt. Personally, I feel there's the potential for this (Summer Sizzler) to be a quite good show; the regular Kawartha field (20+ cars every night last year), add some Ottawa cars, hopefully a few Del/Flam cars and some LLM cars (Sunset, Barrie, Mosport, Peterboro, Varney and Sauble, there's plenty to draw from) and you could have a good field and some entertaining racing. Maybe it won't turn out that way, but I don't think it should be written off yet.
Don't both shaw and hooker run built motors? not totally sure on that but there are still cars running built motors so those rules would have to be looked at to.
Shaw for sure now runs the crate, I think Hooker does as well, but I can't say that for sure. Either way, the weight is the same, 2975 lbs, for a 10:1 built engine as for the crate.

wasn't sure about shaw, but kirk and the team did end up returning back to running a built, but if it's the same for built and crate i guess it's not an issue anyways.
Not sure how many on this thread are regulars at Kawartha but being a season ticket holder again this year, here's my take. Yes totally agree there was too much stupid going on's with some of the late model drivers, however did it ruin a good night put on by the late models this year. Definitely not, with the likes of Mchattie, Watson, Morgan, Walters (when he was there), Parsons, Mercer, Powell battling in the features there was nothing wrong with the show they put on. They had a solid field of LM's all season long and other then a few drivers who were over their head in that division it still was a good show. Actually I'm sad to see the Sizzler back in its old format cause then it means the US drivers from the ACT series will not be here to put on a great show like normal. Hopefully they can work something out so that the ACT series comes back to Kawartha, considering the lack of attention paid by fans to come to that race it was always a good show put on by all the teams.
Phil, sorry to disagree but if it wasn't for McHattie and Watson there wouldn't have been a LM show this year.
