Phil, sorry to disagree but if it wasn't for McHattie and Watson there wouldn't have been a LM show this year.
...
I'm quite sure the"REST"of the 2009 LM DRIVERSwould be glad to hear your comment "duh"; McHattie & Watson aren't the only 2 out there & as far as I'm concerned Watson was the better of the 2 , at least he doesn't jump the GREEN flag on starts & re-starts !
I hope in 2010 the Flagman doesn't allow this to happen, any other track wouldn't; when the ACT race was there you didn't see it happen and if it did they were made re-start "don't you remember?
It doesn't matter who you thougth was better of the two who won the title?
nascar329, I never said a word about the ability of any LM driver at Kawartha. Hell, I'm friends with quite a few of them. Just stating that unless you were watching those two ( 9 and 71 ) fight it out or run through the pack, there wasn't much else going on. Most cars were strung out with little side by side racing. That's not to say that there wasn't the odd battle from third on back but not much. That being said, I usually spot so can't watch everything around the track so maybe I have missed some things. BUT, I did take a couple of weekends off from spotting to watch and those two DEFINATELY were the show.
I can not disagree that Mchattie and Watson were the top 2 cars in the field this year, but I still think there was some solid racing in that division comparing it to watching other series this year. And as you know slapdown, I've travelled to a number of different events just like any other year, not as many as in the past but still got to see some other tracks and the show was just as solid at Kawartha in looking at the LM series. Would I like to see the likes of Shaw, Hooker, Van de Wyst, and the Robblee's running against the regulars at Kawartha?? Absolutely, but until the rules are set to allow them to do that and have both sets of LM's be competitive then we won't so we will not be able to enjoy how good a show that would be.
Is it racing season yet??lol Cause I am already suffering withdrawals.

I have to say I think you're being a little harsh here Slapdown. To say there wouldn't have been a LM show without those two is stretching it; there were a number of quality cars and drivers out there most nights. My personal opinion was that the LM racing was much better than expected. Adding the LLM cars to the mix worked quite well (and I was among the group who thought it wouldn't work, so I was proven wrong), most of those cars were very competetive. Were McHattie and Watson the cars to beat? Absolutely, and more often than not one of them was holding the checkered flag at the end of the night. But most nights there were a handful of other cars who with a break here or there could have won as well. On top of that, how long has it been since you've gone a race track and seen a full field (or very close to it) of LMs every week? I was pleasantly surprised with the quantity and quality of the LM field this year.
