Mid America the only reason you and Merrifield werent there is because you
dont have sponsors.  The reason you dont have sponsors can be found by
reading your posts over the last two months

The Nascar race did not have a sponsor-they either called it the Edmonton Grand Prix 100 or the Canadian Tire 100-depends on who you talk to.  The Grand Prix itself did not have a sponsor until Rexall came on board at the last minute, for a lot less than the Grand Prix promotors were asking.  Perhaps the word was out that NASCAR appeared pretty disorganized with this deal and felt that the show was in doubt.  Who knows.  Most people out here were pretty surprised at the car count at 30.  Neither the Vernon show or the Edmonton show had the cars they had last year (vernon had 37 and Edmonton 41 last year).  There were also not as many fans at Edmonton this year as opposed to last year-I don't know about Vernon.  Last year, everyone from the West was left out of any programs, and didn't receive near the attention as the "nascar" teams from the east, even though a lot of West teams did most of the promotion for the event, which in turn choked up a lot of sponsors (mine included).  Perhaps the potential sponsors for the race(s) thought that seeing as they ponied up last year and were ignored, that this year they might as well save their monies as they were probably going to get ignored again.  Didn't see any programs this year, but I too wonder if any of the WEST (or non-eastern teams) even got mentioned.  This is not a slag to the east. just a fact of what transpired last and this year.  If you were a sponsor, would you pony up for this kind of treatment?  I also could not believe the pay-outs.  Most guys didn't get enough to pay for the fuel in the race car, never mind anything else.  Who's to blame?  Well, who organized this series?  And, midamerica, don't worry about those that seem to slag you any opportunity that they get-they really have no clue to the cost of this sport, and most of the detractors don't have two cents to rub together for their own stuff.  Life is tough enough for them in the trailer park as it is.

northernracer11- Nice try bud, but sponsors at this level are business people and they understand the numbers of profit and loss. Travelling West with, or without a sponsor, would not have made this a good business decision based on the fact that you know your losing money from the get go, and that is the key here.
Don't kid yourself... For the amount of Corporate money in this series that teams have signed it could become a nightmare if they were to leave, and don't think that cant happen.
This Series needs to build quickly in order to survive and it has to be done at Level 1- The Teams.
In order for the teams to succeed, and Nascar to succeed, there must be a level playing field to start with. The Teams provide the Cars and the entertainment, and Nascar must provide the purse money in order to get this series on its feet.
Take this purse for Edmonton and offer it to a Cup Team- same amount of laps- same time frame- same amount of travel... I cant print what they would tell you, but it starts with NO, and ends in WAY !!
We finished 7th in a Sportsman Race at Peterborough, and my friend Peter Gibbons finished 7th at Edmonton. Don't you think it's sad that I made allot more money then he did.
If you have something to say about my comments- go ahead its a free world... but one thing I can say is everthing I write is fact- not fiction- so learn to understand the truth, even if it hurts.

RDRacing- Thanks for the support and I am glad you see the reality of what is actually going on, but you will always find people that think differently, or are perswaydid by gossip.
I want the series to survive, and I think it can, but we need real purses that warrent what the teams put out to compete. We need to be titled as the "Best racing series in Canada" and that will help sell the sponsorship programs, but until the numbers change, we will always have a struggle.

Well Midamerica I guess this is where I have to ask you how valid Mark Dilley's claim is in regards to the 4 quarterly payments he posted previously?  Are these amounts not factual and are these not improvements from previous years where you only got paid at the end of the season based on your points position?  And from what I've seen promoted on TSN the series is being titled the "Premier Stock Car racing in Canada"  what more are you expecting?
