Congrats to all who performed at Edmonton....and 25 on the lead lap.............very impressive !!
But please... DO NOT SHOW the Money Won totals.........THIS IS EMBARASSING !!!
How can NASCAR allow this to happen, are we Canadians being taken for fools ???
I didn't want to say anything about it as people will think I'm bashing or5 being negative to the series but how does a driver do this. The expense to go to Edmonton is a lot and with the gas prices being so high.
Micks got 485.00 for his finish. I bet the Gas cost more to travel there.
I think they should have two series and one run out west and one in the east and then have 2 races one out west and one in the east and say the guy is the overall series champion and of course pay more money in purses and make it a big event in the west and in the east.
I would pay a bit more for a ticket if they made it a big event and paid the drivers more. Get current and new sponsors to give more money for these two races.
I don't know maybe I need to give my head a shake ???
I think we need to remember that due to time restraints, some races do not have sponsors. That is the reason for the low payouts. This will change, and as far as the races that do have sponsors, the payouts aren't that far off of Bush East numbers.
CRO- Its not your head that needs Shaking !!!!
As long as 20 or so cars show up to race, the system will never change.
The poor pay is not NASCAR's fault.
The fact that guys race for it, is.......
You don't need to feed a horse, if its willing to work on an empty stomach !!
Most teams will tell you, to go West costs around $25,000 when all is said and done.
Me and Bob Merryfield were talking at Peterborough last night and we agreed that him and I made the most money by not going west. NO tire bill- NO race fuel bill- NO entry bill- NO nascar inspection bill- and No damage to our equipment.
All added up we figure were up at least $35,000 each.
SAD BUT TRUE !!
P.S.- I forgot to congradulate my buddy J.R.#84 - Great job John Ryan !!
ace, as one from the west the only time constraint were self imposed by nascar themself,i feel they honestly felt that money, drivers and corporate would just pour in because of the name NASCAR. As for a east west series, the cost for a track to host an event,80000 dollars, is just to high for only 20-30 cars.If nascar wants to grow this series, maybe they need to share in the risk as well as the rewards.
