the cheques were handed out at the drivers meeting in edmonton. we competed in two ncats events this last two weeks, and the total cost of both races was well under the estimates of previous stated on this forum. to the tune of about $30,000.00 less if this is such big business then why are you showing all your cards to the world wide web....and what kind of sponsor do you think would want to be involved after reading this. most of my sponsors read this forum almost everyday, and i have to keep reassureing them that it is all just people tryiing to create hype. racing is not a money maker unless you are at the elite (cup or bush) level. its called passion . #21 jason white
Okay, You were right and I changed my qoute about the money issues and I hope I didnt offend anyone inculding Teams, Sponsors or Nascar. Jim#21, the numbers that I had up for the cost to go west doesnt include you because you are from the west. Thoses numbers were for teams that had to make the travel from the east and if it is a fraction of what i said the cost was, how come you dont travel east for all the races... the cost and I agree !!
I will say every sponsor meeting I have had over the last 6 months ask's the same question. Why is there no pubicity on the Canadian portion of the series ?? They can open the newspaper and see who won the Cup Race, or the Busch Race or the Indy Car Race, but never a headline storey on the CTS Race.
We have 2 young stars in this series, J.R. and Ranger, who deserve as much media exposure as Gordon or Hornish, but you dont here about it. Both Drivers could easily make it to the Cup level if we were in the states because people would talk about them. Here it is very hard, just ask Ranger- he's Canadian and didnt survive the Open Wheel deal because of a lack of support from the Canadian Media.
I dont think TSN is doing everthing in there power to boost the series as you mentioned, so that would be the first place to start as far as Headline Storey's.
I for one want NASCAR to survive here and hopefully it will.
Another point- What Mark said about the payouts being done in 1/4's is a great idea and I commend NASCAR for that deal. As far as Mark giiving out numbers for payouts, he is right on as long as you are in a Dodge, the only car manufaturer that supports the series.
i.e. My point of troulble- If Dodge was to leave where would those drivers stand and how long could they afford to race ??
I dont see Dodge leaving any time soon and that is why 50% of the cars in the series are Dodge, because that is where the money is. Once again, thanks Dodge, even from a Chevy Team.
Mid America: Here is the point: In your eyes is the cup half full or half empty?
Those that see it as half full are still racing trying to make the series successful.
You see it as half empty. Change your mind set and you will be back with a sponsor before you
know it.
Were trying and thank you, but I do have a question.
Why is the cup always filled only half way ??
