the hans will work with a open face helmut that is what mine was fitted too. i do not recommend it i will move up with a full face next year. at acms our streets, thunders and minis are still allowed open face. one word of warning with full face if you have a carbon monoxide problem get one that can move some air. bonceracer is the hobby stock the same as nascar stock class,if so you guys are nuts(in a good way) saw them run last sat when i was there with the west tour.

Yes indeedy,hill3,that's us...I was in the 52 car,got involved in the big wreck lap 40 1st main,I'll tell ya,nothing more "fun" than being sideways with driver's side facing traffic and 20 odd crazed people coming at you...hang on to the wheel REAL tight until everything stops. No matter,I'll be there this Sunday for the next race, gotta put a cowcatcher on that bad boy... ;D

A HANS device would certainly be worth the money, but the Collar has been proven less effective then the Hutchens type device unless a full containment seat is used.

So if you go to a HANS you need to spend the extra $ on the seat too.

Unfortunatly I haven't got a HANS or Hutchens device yet. I was planning on getting one for this season but $ fell short (the company i workd for let me go and my budget strings tightened) next year if I race for sure I'll add the head restraint. I do have the full containment seat and love it. I took a good crash to the right side last year the first race after I put the seat in. Pancaked the right side on the pitwall (yep was going backwards). The seat, sholder, rib all were bent out slightly and the mounting for the head piece twisted. Walked away no pain no brusing. I imagine if I had just the old rib supports I'd have been injured.

Next year also adding plates to the driver door bars. Cheap to do and very effective.

So apparently what I am getting is that you guys racing out west and in the faster classes are way more advanced in your selection of safety gear. Is this mandated or do you just make the choice yourselves? I got the full face helmet because I don't think I would feel safe with a open face, I have gotten a faceful of junk just standing around at the speedway, imagine you're doing 80 or 90 and get that...

No doubt safety allways first
would not eventhink about getting in the car without all of it on and to take it to the next level we got crew helmets for the guys
at the end of the day why would you spend all that money for driver safety and not consider your crew who in most cases are Buddy's that you have grew up with or known for years
