Wow! I'm done with this topic since Holland Landing apparently is a great place to grow mind altering substances and there's a good crop this year. I can't stop laughing at the ridiculous posts and obvious blind favoritism towards one track.
So, Holland Landing, I hope when the bubble bursts, you don't hurt yourself in the fall. I'm sure Sunset is going to be nice and I'm looking forward to fun times there, but it ain't gonna become the Mecca of racing you think it will be. 365 days ago it was a far different matter at the mighty Double S. As it was a few years ago at Barrie. Stuff happens, big deal.
So enjoy the heavy duty herb and see ya at the track...
You have to admit that it is a good source of entertainment and it reminds me of the type of discussion and logic you would find in a grade 6 school yard.
I like to revisit my youth I guess ;D 😮
Im not saying the novelty that Sunset has isnt going to wear with time...However to think that the management and everyone associated with the track including fans and drivers see something BIG happening is naive. The opportunities that are being created by Sunset for racing overall may sustain..and increase awareness of new fans and drivers for the future.
Yes Barrie was re done in 04 and at that time Im sure there was a larger field of cars then presently...however the expression What have you done lately? comes to mind What has Barrie done to increase awareness of the sport in the area or for their drivers to increase purses so they can pursue wins or for that matter the future of racing in general? Theres a saying to have a business it must be sustainable and a business cant sustain itself without promotion and change
Why does it matter to others? Or even what is it anyones business where a driver decides to run? That's up to the driver. His/her choice is there own and shouldn't matter to anyone. As for saying that they are only running at a certain track cause they can't compete at others, well that's what invitationals are for aren't they?
To say that a driver is running at Barrie only so they can win a championship that they wouldn't be able to win without the lower car counts isn't fair either. This isn't the first year that these drivers have run at Barrie.
Maybe it could even be that some of these drivers want to run at a Nascar track.
But as I said before it is no one elses BUSINESS!!!
Of course a driver has the choose to run where he/she wants, and if you're a race fan you should wish that all Ontario tracks do well. In a perfect world Barrie and Sunset would learn to work together so we could as fan enjoy both tracks each week without making a choice, and so could the drivers. Apparently that isn't happening though.
Drivers are going to defend the decision, thats understandable. Some defend themselves without even getting defensive, some choose to bash back and even more aren't saying a word. All are understandable. However, from a fans point of few there are a few things that are clear.
One, Barrie drivers bashing the track and management all year has a clear affect on the way we as fans look at the track we choose to spend our money at. Your not doing yourselves any favours by complaining and attacking management like you have the last year.
Two, when a majority of the tracks best are leaving there is a reason for it. We as fans notice this and tend to go with our favourite drivers.
Three...when we see a track falling apart, and another track making improvements every week that tells us who cares about us as fans, the drivers and the competition.
Four...we want to see the best of the best, not a few cars that stayed because it it feels like "home". we will migrate to get bang for our buck.
And Thunder, you made a comment earlier about Barrie cars whooping Sunset cars tails this year. Aren't most of those guys that did well leaving to head to Sunset? Doesn't that further "hollands" point (although I don't agree with his method) that most of the competivie cars won't be at Barrie this year?
If money wasn't an issue (and if it is that understandable), and I was a driver I would be heading to the track that gave me the chance to compete with the best, even if I was a rookie. You'll learn more having your @#s handed to you then you will racing other new drivers. And if I was sponsoring you I'd want you racing the track with the most butts in the seats, the most media attention and the best reputation.
But I'm just a Fanboy though so what do I know?
