the "slower cars" have every right to take there position.. i'm considered a "slower car" in the thunders but you know what, if we don't take our position were never going to learn. starting scratch all the time kinda felt like i was just sitting hitting a brick wall and not getting anywhere. the "fast cars" need to be patient, shoving someone out of the way is not going to help them get any better, putting us (or atleast me) into the wall and spinning me is not going to scare me out of taking my position. we pull a number and qualify just like you do. in my opinion if you "fast cars" are so fast and talented you should be able to get around the "slow cars" clean and easy.

Well I still contend that since the switch to 3 heat format four weeks ago the PS heats are lackluster at best from a fans perspective.. After all that's what were all there for to put on a good show for the fans and its a shame the great talent this division has isn't being displayed nowhere close to its full potential with the 3 heat format.. (e.g if the 02 happens to have a bad # draw he now starts 7th -8th at worst as opposed to watching him cut through 12 cars before in just 10 laps and who wouldnt wanna watch that).. I have no issue at all with the way the starting grid is determined for features, or the pill draw in essence either. I realize you cant go changing that mid season (top 18 qualifying through the heats).. My point was 3 heats isnt needed unless the car count is 27 plus.. and with all due respect, this is where I beg to differ with you a bit Sean, as you stated "we've had in the high 20s most every night"... I did a quick review of car counts in this class throughout the 13 weeks we've run and the counts have been as follows :21, 24, 24, 23, 23, 24, 24, 25, 25, 22, 28, 23, 21 so in essence we've had in the high 20s only one night.. It looks like at least three regular runners (Melenhorst boys and 88 of Mitchell)  are now only showing part time at best so I'm thinkin the car count wont reach high 20s again this season..

Now if true switching to three heat format was done to reduce wrecks I still contend that outside of one night the heat racing was a little rough most of the problems still lie come feature time when there is some decent money on the line.. And your right the drivers have to take some responsibility in that themselves and learn the race isnt won in the first 5 laps..

As I state the only way three heats is entertaining is to line up by points (again I realize hard to change mid season) .. you asked "What would that prove ??" Well for one it would provide more entertainment through the heats cause you'd have more  cars of closer competition racing against each other thus better and more entertaining racing (something that isnt happening now).. Plus it might give a newer driver a better oppertunity to win and thus more confidence in their abilities moving forward.. It might help newer drivers set more attainable goals with this format as well (e.g I'm racing with "heat 1/slower cars now" lets see if by mid season I can work my way up the point ladder to start in heat 2/mid pack cars".. A ladder system is the perfect way to describe it, and this way was used at both Barrie and Sunset for as long as I can remember throughout the 70s/80s/ 90s.. It seemed to work just fine then.. To me switching to 3 heats broke the cardinal rule of life and racing " IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT !!!"

i dunno i kinda like smaller heat races.....look at the thunders running a single heat.....might as well switch them to twin features like the llm cause running two heats then a feature all in one group is stupid and boring.....now i havent been to barrie in a few weeks so not sure if they have went to two seperate heats......maybe doing a ladder system would work....but it would be harder for a guy to grab some "easy points" to make a point battle tighten up. hard to say what the answer is but a 6 or 7 car race can be interesting....but dont worry when barrie speedway  makes this F**king stupid idea of splitting up the 4 bangers up  then  putting them on a race tire , they will have two 12 car fields and the show will be crap again.......leave it upto barrie to ruin another class of race cars........maybe this spec tire they should goto should just be a production tire that comes in a decent amount of sizes and bang their is your tire.....i think most fo the 4cylinder guys would be way more intrested in a spec tire that wont wear out in a handful of weeks.. but everything is for the sake of argument and when the rules meetings come around in nov or dec....it will just be like the thunder class getting wrecked again...the 4 cylinders will be TOLD by the race track being pushed by the select few guys who want a big change of course in the name of "SAFTEY" or "Cheaper TO RUN" bs...that doesnt always seem cheaper or unproven to be much safer.....lets be honest havent seen anyone get hurt or killed by an old metric axle yet.....but you know we needed those big $$$ floaters for saftey and to keep the cost down!!!

As for Thunder Heats.. I like the 12 car heats.. It actually makes the # draw a bit more critical.. Differing opinions I guess.. But ya a Thunder Car driver could technically "not push it as much" in heats with only 5 points max and no money on the line but I dont think that's happening with our guys.. Its more of a pride thing!!! 😉
