Im with Dave to, 2 heats for pure stocks! Nothing worse than being in that third heat race, and having to sit in your car out in the pit lane and sweat your balls off and constantly starting, moving and shutting off your car. Less races, more cars in them.
However I dont like the idea of time trials Dave, fans didnt like it at Sunset, and they got rid of it. I find it a waste of time, unless its for starting position or points. But if its for points, the fast cars just get an easy gift, so whats the point.
At this point thunder cars should run 2 features, andjust invert the finnish of the first feature. I understand that is how they ran Varneys pure stock Sunday. Untill the car counts are consistant enough to make a set rule Alterego, I dont think there is any harm is breaking CARDINAL RULES.
Well Charlie I was really only referring to time trials for LLM to start the night..The idea would be to get the "premier division" on the track first and making the whole show a little more professional and eye appealing from the get go...Adding a lil shine to the show if you will.. 😉 Lets face it most of the Barrie LLM guys have quite the extensive racing resumes and with a quick time trial session you can expound on that over the mic, and as I say to me it makes the show look and sound a bit more professional.. And beyond a bit of a chance to promote those drivers and their sponsors a bit more, I think it would also tighten up points races marginally amongst the top 5.. Let alone the interest in seeing the how times differ from night to night due to weather/track temp and condition etc.. I also think it's interesting to see who's fastest on various nights.. One night it might be Al, then Ron, then Gord, then Randy etc.. For me its a 2 lap time trial for our LLM in addition to the double features.. 😉
To be honest Davey, I wanted to have the heats start from 10 points starting at 1st position down to 10th position anything beyond that gets 1 point, at least that way everyone is getting something. Doing the points as in how many cars are in the heat never seems to work and could turn into a disaster. I popped that idea last year when I asked the forums on how they would like to change the heats. that was one of the ideas I suggested, someone pointed out the flaws in the whole idea and the biggest one you can really screw someone over points wise if they are running for the championship at the end of the year if it's a really tight points battle.
Only thing about this year is that Di and Rick has really no control over the scheduling of who comes to the track. I know they have some big plans for next year in terms of scheduling and it will be their first time be able to actually get back some of the good touring series. We'll just have to wait and see how it goes.
As far as time trials go I could see if we could squeeze it in at least once before the end of the year, a lot of the late models run so close now time wise it would be nice to see who has who in a single car time trial but overall having it every night might be a little much.
Charlie, The infield line up was pre-nascar I know because I was the one who came up with the idea of putting them out there to save time. At that time you were able to go out with window nets down and helmets off but seeing as we progressed into nascar we had to abide by nascar infield rules. Maybe when you guys do have 3 heats you can kindly ask Darryl/Shawn if the third heat could just hang back and sit in the pits. Winners of the heat before usually get pictures done anyways so not much time would be wasted.
Untill the car counts are consistant enough to make a set rule Alterego, I dont think there is any harm is breaking CARDINAL RULES. You're treating this like I was the one who said this. I wasn't it was Davey.
I definitely think that starting heats with 10 points for winner on down to 1 for 10th is better than the way we currently do it.. Agree entirely there..
