Regarding pure stocks being boring in their heats. It's not supposed to be the show for them. That's what the night end feature is for, agree or disagree but having less cars in each heat is supposed to help keep cautions down but saying that it also falls in the hands of the drivers to help AVOID these cautions.
Now regarding pure stock structure with having 3 pure stocks heats. We've had it this ways for years, just as of late we've been getting our car counts back up in the pure stocks with having high 20's almost every night. As far as having the pure stocks in points heats... what would this solve? only the top 5 cars are getting points anyways so having the top 7 cars in the heats, 2 of those 7 are not getting points and not gaining anything on the other 5 cars, saying that it makes more sense to have it mixed up as we do with the as you say "B.S number pull" I can go on and on about why it's not a good idea to do this in terms of points and a number of other ways but I'll probably catch you next Saturday to tell you about that davey =D
Charlie, you are right it is a race track but just like a highway a racetrack has two lanes (or more). starting pole and coming out of 3 and 4 as you drive the outside pole sitter up and towards the wall is why you were stopped. I believe we had 2 restarts in that heat and you did it both times. I am not here to argue that so I won't comment any further on this.
I dont know what there issue is with regards to starting order and things, but we had a bad night on one night, so Darryl went and told the slower cars to start in the rear.
Its pretty simple, if they read their own rules ( which they seem to change and make up as they go along anyways ) Rules state TOP 18 CARS TO QUALIFY FROM THE HEATS, AND START THE FEATURE IN THE ORDER BASED ON PERCENTAGE. REMAINING CAR FILL IN BEIHIND THE QUALIFIED CARS, SO RUN CONSI IF NEED BE. Thats not an exact quote on the rules, but thats pretty much it.
I thought the feature was pretty good going till the od caution came out. Dont know what happened to Penny, and Justin lost it down the whole front shoot and luckily only hit Adam and didnt distroy themselfs or anyone else. Then I got into Terry, tuff sleddin, but the door was open, sorry to Terry and anyone involved, but I had the opening all be it small, and had Shawn, Trav, and Gip up my ass, and we all know they werent gonna wait much longer!
Oh Alterego, its the show for EVERYONE!! The four cylinder IS your show, with 20 plus cars, dont think 8 late Models running single file for 30 laps is a crowd pleaser. Go to Sunset and see that ALL CLASSES are just as much the show as the end race.
After I SOMETIMES watch Jim Beslesky mop up the thundercars, I load my junk and head home, cant even tell you who or what is going on with late models. To be honest, I go for the 4 bangers, without them and that big car count they have, I doubt id attend.
Read our rules? that's only if there is more then 26 cars that night would we need a "B" feature or anything like that and you guys do qualify top 18 from the heats and how you finished in them. you only get your handicap if you are within the top 18 so saying that, if you are a slower car and you don't make it within the top 18 of those cars that qualify you don't get your handicap. If we have 3 heats of 8, the top 6 cars of each heat qualify their handicap (same goes if we have 2 heats of 12... top 9 qualify) the rest of the cars that do not make their handicap and/or are new cars are put to the rear of the field, that's why some nights you see slow cars up front some nights you don't, depending who are all in their heats and how they finish in those heats.
If you want to figure out your handicap for the three weeks that's easy too. Add your nightly total from the last three weeks and divide it by 180 (which 60 points max. per night for 3 nights) and you'll get your handicap.
I am not saying the pure stocks is the show or isn't all I said is the heats are not the main part of the show that's all. To be completely honest I like watching the pure stocks race there is some good talent out there don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed/enjoy the pure stocks class for as long as I've been there and out of the regular night classes is my fave class regardless of car count in any other class.
Justin (400 is what you're talking about) lost it coming out of 4 and hit the front grand stand wall just past the flag stand, bounced off and while trying to recover he ended up hitting 11.
As far as the penny accident. That was just too many cars in too little space. car 12 got pushed high coming through 2 and got out of the racing line, penny seeing an opening tried to take advantage of the opening. Down the back straight away 16 thinking he was clear came up as 12 was trying to get back into the racing line and 12 ended up hitting 16 right rear corner panel causing penny to get up into wall.
As far as Darryl telling the slower cars to go scratch I don't think that's the case. he may have asked so they didn't get ran over in the feature but the final decision was/is up to the driver.
the "slower cars" have every right to take there position.. i'm considered a "slower car" in the thunders but you know what, if we don't take our position were never going to learn. starting scratch all the time kinda felt like i was just sitting hitting a brick wall and not getting anywhere. the "fast cars" need to be patient, shoving someone out of the way is not going to help them get any better, putting us (or atleast me) into the wall and spinning me is not going to scare me out of taking my position. we pull a number and qualify just like you do. in my opinion if you "fast cars" are so fast and talented you should be able to get around the "slow cars" clean and easy.
