Don't get me started on lap times times Ross, I can on my own run 17.0 17.1 at Sunset and have run close to that at BSW my first time there, "blkflaggin" can vouch for that as he timed us.  Give me 50 more ponies in my 2600 lb full framed civic and it won't be pretty.  ;D

WOW i ran a 17.1 with my 12valve at barrie and wasnt doing to badly at ac against the dual cams.  😮

but anyway the rules are the topic lets not get too side tracked with beating thunders and just worry about each other. idont see dual cams at barrie anytime in the near future but 16valve, maybe...... 8)

i remember reading somewhere about a mini class that had an exhaust resriction based on hp or model or some criteria instead of adding weight. Basically the thinking was that teching the top end wasn't too critical when you have a 1 inch (or some such number)  exhaust.

just a comment for interest as i have no idea how it worked or if it's reasonable

The thundercar comparison is not really off topic, just the views of some are off base. Here’s why and how it relates.

A Thundercar is 3200 lbs and has 300 or more power, so that’s 10.6 lbs/hp worst case
A powerful DOHC 4 is 220 hp in a 2600 lbs car, so that’s 11.8 lbs/hp best case

So for you DOHC 4 to compete on weight/hp is would have to be in the 2332 lb range. Not going to happen…

So to say the DOHC 4 is going to turn Thunder lap time of 16 seconds at Barrie, with more weight per hp is silly. Also considering the thunder has better suspension and race tires not 300 treadwear street tires, it won’t be a race.

At best the DOHC will be in the 16.5 range, with less powerful 8v’s in the 17 range. THEY WILL NOT BE SUB 16 SECOND CARS.

Understanding what your car will realistically run is important before deciding what to do with the rules. As even a better idea, it would be best to test DOHC cars on the track before making any rule changes.

Bring out the dyno and see what the real numbers are. Compare that to the weight of the cars for an accurate weight to hp ratio..

ross you would have to consider the cornering ability in the lap times....the civics would corner faster that's the equalizer
