ross ross ross, we have already had an 8v car break 16.5 seconds so that theory is toast, with 4cyl it  is less about hp and more about over all handling
so thanks for comming out and stick with thunder cars :-* lol

Penalizing the guys that have their schitt together because somebody in a rotted out old grocery getter complains that he can't stay on the lead lap in a 10 lap heat is not the answer. Yes it's an entry level class, yes it is supposed to be fun and economical however it's still racing.
Ben figured it out with his 240 and spanked the Hondas when he was on his game, others such as Doug Butler have done the same and will continue to do so.
The 16 valves are not magic, we have a number of guys running the same gear same motor that have yet to really get it sorted out but each year they get faster, ask more questions and start winning some races.
The Cuttings work damn hard on their Daytona really damn hard but it is what it is, you can only squeeze so much out of it before you max it out, he pulls me in the straights, but the single A arm front and straight axle rear suspension is only going to offer up so much handling in the corners where a Honda if set up properly can maintain a lot of it's speed.

Yes, that is true. That's why we can imply that it's mostly the hondas up front. Though in regards to what you said about the Cuttings - curious question ponders to me to ask if that's the case with what you're saying about him pulling you on the straights, then why is it that it's not seen? Why is it that us the fans see the 18 quicker/same speed as others in the corner though losing positions down the straight?

Ask Jay or Jim, I have been at his door more this year than last and he is a lot tougher to get around this year, if it is just he and I its a two lap deal to get by him and he holds on pretty damn good. He did really well at Flam on the weekend too, I left before the mini features but I heard he won one???

Times are a changin eh...

So the top mini is running 16.5 and Doucette qualified with a 15.4. The way I do the math, they are still a second apart, as is 17 vs 16. DOHC will only split the differnce at best.

Either way it comes down to testing if you want to introduce DOHC 16v and keep it a competitive class. The "lets throw 150-200-300 whatever lbs at them" never works till you actaully see what they do at the track.
