I hate to join the bandwagon against you here Ross, but Slammer is right. A dohc car set up properly would compete with some thunder cars, not dave doucettes 15.4 or what ever but more like your 16 flats. And you guys run racing tires..we run on street rubber. I set barries track record this year with a 16.6 and that was with a sohc 12 valve car weighing 2600lbs..some of the thunder cars at the big invite were running 16.2s...again not ALL thunder cars..But SOME...like yours 🙂

Ok, like mine then. A rookie driver, in a 100 lbs overweight bent car running for the 1st time at a new track, amking the field in the last chance qualifier. IF thats what you consider running with the thundercars, then I'll agree with you.
I also run at a track, KD, where there are DOHC minis, and they are not running thunder times...
I still say your expectations of DOHC are exagerated, and with some testing to see what is really up, they might be able to be included in your mini class, without making the existing cars obsolete.
Ask Jay or Jim, I have been at his door more this year than last and he is a lot tougher to get around this year, if it is just he and I its a two lap deal to get by him and he holds on pretty damn good. He did really well at Flam on the weekend too, I left before the mini features but I heard he won one???
I have to agree with Slammer here. Whenever I have taken over Jay it has been going into the corner. Down the straight we are the same speed. I also know I can follow him for a few laps on his bumper waiting for that chance and he doesn't make it easy. His car is faster but he also has become a good clean driver.
I don't see how you can let the Honda's weigh less then the Mustangs so would this wording of the rules be acceptable to most ?
Cars must weigh 1 pound per CC plus 200lbs. plus any handicap with driver after any event. (Mustang 2300cc –2500lbs. min.) Cars with a 12 valve engine must weigh 1.1 pound per CC plus 200lbs. plus any handicap with driver after any event.
Cars with 16 valves - all Honda's (2000 cc max) 2500 lbs plus any handicap with driver after any event
* minimum weight of any car 1800 lbs .

The weight rule at barrie for all cars at this time is 1.0lb per cc plus 200 for the driver therfore my car at 1955cc has to 2155lbs but a 1500cc civic/crx weighs 1800 no minimum
