Small steps before big strides.

Varney has a small but loyal group of 'Varney' Late Models that continue to support our track year in and year out. What are we saying to those guys if, all of a sudden, we tell them that their car is no longer compatible because we have decided to rule in favor of all the other tracks cars first?

I agree that eventually, we should probably be on par with other tracks. We still allow other tracks Late Models for Invitationals and that will continue. Our fast guys are still fast even with the other tracks fast guys so, if you want to come out for an Invitational and have some fun, feel free.

You're right Scott, Varney does seem to have something that other tracks don't. I'm still trying to figure that one out.

From the first post it sounds like you want the cars 100% to your rules for the invitationals as well as regular nights, if its home track rules for invitationals no big deal. couldn't you add specific amount of weight for cars to come from other tracks on regular nights, most of the differences in rules dont make the cars any faster, there just suspension parts that you dont allow. If a competitor knows before hand
how much weight he has to add, its alot easier to add at the shop than at the race track. Besides I built a new car for sunset and when i heard that you were actually going to tech cars now, I thought I would go back to Varney. .

Scott,

You are right. I did not specify that the rules laid out are for hometrack cars as per our weekly racing divisions.

Standard Invitational guidelines will be followed for visiting cars and if you ever have a question such as; "how much extra weight do I need to add"?, you can always contact the Race Director in advance. His email can be found on the Varney Speedway website.

As far as Varney "teching cars"......this is something that falls into the category of 'changes' at Varney that are not written in rule books or announced in press releases.

There is a new management team in place at Varney Speedway that are dedicated to helping the track get better in teh coming years. While many of the initiatives being implemented and discussed are not really for public knowledge, competitors and fans alike will see some of the obvious changes from day one of the upcoming season.

We really want to try and get some new cars this season and feel that our track offers drivers from other tracks; that have gotten used to running for 2nd or 3rd on back; a chance to compete for a win on a weekly basis.

Nothing wrong with that.

We hope to see you out this year Scott.

your rules are different from every other track for the llm, I dont think guys will show up if you expect 100% conformity with your rules?

We are trying to make our rules as close to possible to the other tracks, could you specify which rules your referring too?

So whats all the big changes you have made? As far as I can see a new tire rule!! I thought you guys were making an aggressive attempt to get drivers back? How do you expect to get drivers back when you're the lowest paying track around????Can't believe I was thinking of racing there!!! With the rising cost of fuel and parts over the years, Varney has yet to make changes to their payouts to compensate the costs.   You need to make your rules more comparible to other race tracks they are too far out of touch. .... You're invitational payouts are less then a regular nights payouts at most other tracks....

The payouts for LLM are still being discussed by the management team our track also races 20+ times per division keep this in mind when doing math. As for the rules being comparable to other tracks, please help us by being specific to which rules?
As for the tire rule, I believe it does not apply to Invitationals.
Your feedback is appreciated.
