Announcement re: Head Starter

A page in the Varney Speedway history books is about to be turned as long-time head starter, Joe Watson, has announced this week that he will retire and step down from the flag stand beginning with the 2011 Race season.Through thick and thin, Joe has been on the stand for many triumphant nights as well as many challenging nights. He is a man of principal who, sticks to his guns and shoots from the hip.Agree with him or disagree with him, Joe was always a respected man in the pit area and his trademark white uniform will be missed on the starter's stand.Please join us in wishing Joe the absolute best of luck with his future endeavors!.
