I think that would be a great idea, however i don't think the owner would have the time of day to listen.  He was never around to discuss anything this summer, and personally i dont think he cares what the drivers think!  At the banquet for instance, don't you think he would have adressed everybody, maybe told them the direction the track is going in. I'm going to have a field day on this one, welcome to the big bad world Jimmy..

From No beer in the pits or socializing after the races- god forbid!

you'll be sad to know it was Barrie that started this one, enforcing the rule with police in the pits. So if you think you are going up the road for a beer in the pits your are sadly mistaken. Most tracks have a no drinking in the pits rule. Don't be a moron, pour it in a McDonalds cup and you aren't going to have a problem. Its the same story anywhere.

To increasing thunder car purses ( What about the late models, just a little more invested in those cars lol)

thunder cars is the dirrection that track seems to be taking. Why not? You have a LARGE number of some of the best machines and drivers in that area. LLM fields were shinking. Thunder invitations brought in 35+ cars. LLM payout still exceed thunder. What you going to do, go to Barrie? It is also a very thundercar heavy track.

Calling the last race of the year!  Sure it rained Saturday what about Sunday, didn’t you want to make any money before the track sat empty all winter!

Mosport did the same thing. It was bad for all tracks this year. There is a time to throw in the towel and say there is no way to recover the season from the bad weather. One night would've made no difference. Kawartha called their 2nd last night, and no 50 lap thunder double pay features were run. Weather effected us all, not just sunset.

No Points next Year- can’t wait to see that!  Where are all these drivers going to come from??????

The largest fields of cars are found at invitations. Look at AC. Invitations for thunder at Sunset drew 35+ car fields. Seems it events WITHOUT points that are the largest draw. Do I agree with no points, nope. But the real interesting thing here is you don't hear the Sunset regualar drivers complaining about not having points. I have heard that Wes also tryed this when he owned the track in the early 80's. May have worked then, may work now. If he's getting huge fields of cars, more will follow, if he dosn't he sank himself. We'll have to see.

Would you sponsor sunset?

Yup

Charity auction great idea-but not at a racing banquet, way too long didn’t pay $50 for that thanks.

Sorry your time is to important for the Special Olympics

Oh ya did anyone get receipts for there purchases, just checking who knows where that money went.

 Oh my

Payouts were pretty stingy this year, no Jackets for the Champions (must have costed Wes to much) Only giving trophies to top 3???????

Same as every other track. Its a busness, payouts are based on the points fund which is based on attendance. This year suck. We all have to take a bit less, money dosn't grow on trees.

Mosport only gave trophies to the champions (for the year). Rest of us got a picture of us and are car (very well done might I add). Top 3 is 2 more than another track gave out.

Yet another "grass is always greener on the other side" type of guy.

Obviously, Sunset has some issues. I don't pretend to know or understand anything about them.
Rather than bitching on an internet message board, has anyone thought about a group of drivers and/or fans sitting down with the Owner/Manager and discussing the issues?

I am all for it and think this would be an awesome idea. In fact I would even throw my hat into the ring to do it. If track management/ownership would like to work with the drivers this would be a great way to create a buffer. You would not have a hundred people coming from all directions but one person that would then communicate with the drivers.

In this day and age with internet I can see me set up with a msn messenger account and have all the 4 cylinder drivers added to it. I can post questions and have real time convos if needed. I could send out updates of information that came from a meeting.

If anybody from management/ownership is interested feel free to contact me and get the ball rolling. This will go a long way to opening up communication at the track.

oldbill, if you read through this thread again from the beginning maybe you will have some empathy towards some of the "bitchers" and what brought this about...

i believe that most of this thread is people arguing with ross about his contrary views to everything important to others and since the topic is the sunset banquet and such, we have a sh*t show, but believe it or not it's for the better "good" of the track if someone can swallow their pride and learn some lessons from this cluster [Coc Edit - What the Language] of a season.

the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

perhaps we can ask some questions at the drivers meeting....if we have one.

so if i'm such a "bitcher" oldbill, why haven't i brought up the fact i won more features and sunset should have broke the tie in the roadrunner division?  so maybe some of this is being brought on by a certain "great ambassador for his track" (who's quote was that again? lol) who performs as consistently shitty on here as he does on the track.
