Maybe not "one builder for anything", but some of the complaining i've heard out of Delaware is that even if you don't buy the McColl chassis, you still have to basically build a new one to their specs.
So, maybe you don't have to buy a McColl, but they'll keep it so ya won't be allowed to run a Howe or any other prefab chassis either.
Still smells a little funny to me, and maybe Sunset can get a lesson from it.
On the other hand, Super Stock put on a pretty dandy show this year at Delly, so maybe its not all bad...except the guys doing the lions share of the winning are, of course, the guys who've spent the money and have only come in since "next gen" SS cars have been in the show. Most of the OLD SS frontrunners are sitting up in the beer garden, have switched divisions, or are still plugging away in their old SS....in the midfield if they're lucky.
That's telling ya something there too I guess. :-
Did it ever occur to you that the guys that are doing the lions share of the winning would probably still be doing the winning if they had built an old generation car for Delaware? There are lots of others in the field that have new generation cars and they're not up front.
Maybe take a look at who the front runners are and not so much at the equipment that they run.
There u go I'll second that driving skill and some luck go a very long long way
As for Promoter of the Year and I would vote for Mark Dilley in a second. He has all the staff working together, and they are some of the friendliest track workers in the business.
I found almost every track I ran at this year (5) were on top of their game. Sunset Speedway is one of the best, a well run facilitly, well deserving of any awards, and for certain a NASCAR race. Good luck Mark.
I have no wish to argue the point. I only threw my observations up to point out what happened with our track when they started to radically change things.
Super Stock racing was good this year....no complaint there, but it was also a lot different - left a lot of long time campaigners out in the cold.
