I would like to say THANK YOU, to all the Staff , Owners, and those who worked behind the scenes in towing, supplying the fresh hamburgs andhot dog buns. Foxes Buns Master Bakery and other suppliers..at Sunset International Speedway.  At least the new owners made the track what it is today. But you can not take it away from the Slaughter Family when they owned it. They did their very-very best with the time that they hard to work on the track.
Not like some of the previous owners who leased it off the Shakell Family and ran it into the ground not only once, but twice they did it.

One guy who's winning that's not running top equipment???? ummmmm, Herb Waters won, what was it, 4 features this year and the chase for the colours? That car ran for the first time this year with a new crate motor but I assure you that car is less than "the very best equipment." Anyways Ive been down this road before with yetti I'm not going to do it again. All I'm going to say is that a talented driver that has figured out a race track is 85 percent of the battle and whats under him is an important but very small 15%. Do you think that there is any correlation between people who can drive having sponsors and they're car and people who can talk shit on the internet having none. I sure as shit do. As for the actual reason for this thread, Mark Dilley and the staff at sunset speedway deserve a standing ovation for what they have done over the last couple of years and what they will continue to do for the next several years. Cant wait until next season!!!! Is it may yet???

The person who started this thread said Mark built a NASCAR track out of a dirt mound.

Yes imo it is the very best, and could indeed support NASCAR sanctioned events......

Where is the NCATS?  Where is the Wheelen All American series stamp?

This track should have the NASCAR banner imo, it will lower the back gate costs, and boost the payouts ( mostly at the mid and BOTTOM half of the grid ) and points funds.  It would attract more sponsors, fans...and you need to that to warrent these mega dollar cars coming out.

But yes great job Mark, im always interested to see whats going on at Sunset Speedway, it really is second to none!

It was a brand NEW ENGINE never touched. Herbie bought that from a GM dealer and bolted it in the car. Never changed the timing chain or the oil pan. It broke the timing chain with 2 laps to go in the velocity, it sheered the crank sprocket and bent 8 exhaust valves and 1 intake. Maybe we should have taken it apart and put the GOOD STUFF in it. We will know better for next time.

As far as the new McColl thunder chassis... ive heard from a few people, that while it is clean, affordable, and safe, etc... It will BEND easier?  It has no Xing really, alot of tubes running to nowhere in the centre, and my personal bother, is that it has no bends and curves in it like a stock frame.  Everyone knows the bends and dips in stock frames ad strength.  Is this car designed to keep coming back for fixups?

Having to go back to McColls for tweaks im sure isnt cheap?  Although im sure Merv Walt will be happy to see people lol
