I am sure that if any quick car out there is teched to the letter of the law then they would all be found guilty. Therefore Donaldson is not a cheat, he is progressive at worst. These guys live and breath racing. The only people that should be complaining are the ones that put in as much effort as they do, and when people do that, then they would not have the time or inclination to read internet forums anyway.
lol...+100!
Judging by the reaction of the Barrie tech man (who's usually quite happy go lucky and rational) I gotta go with cheating myself..I seen the reaction and embarassment he felt for essentially being "forced" to pass this car.. Lets not forget that the Stefco/McColl series is essentially being run by the Sunset bretheren either.. Also lets not forget this team in question has also been banned for a calendar year if not even life from Mosport for a reason... This isnt pushing the envelope as some have stated its out and out running illegal for the entire 2010 season.. And dont get me wrong I have absolutely nothing against Kyle, Kenny, Sandy or any member of Donaldson racing.. Just callin a spade a spade. 😉 I know this I've been to every Stefco/McColl series race to date save for Kawartha but after the events of this past Fri night at Barrie I will NOT be supporting this series any further.. And I'm not the only one that feels this way I'm sure.. So what's that tell ya??
Ernie...valid point! I can understand that. All I'm saying is if he "pushed" the rule but didn't cheat, then you can't blame him. I can fully understand why small teams would won't this kept in check. Everyone wants to be competitive. Maybe your right, maybe they do need to start a middle class. As a fan I wouldn't complain if there's a market for it. Bring back the "Challengers" so to speak. I know it wouldn't be the same but you know what I mean.
Escalating costs is the main reason my Uncle got out of racing (that and he got married with children ::) ). When Sunset first opened (he actually helped build the track and some of his welds are in the old stands) it was buy a car, throw a roll cage in it and go. Then as things 'evolved' you had to spend the money or just run around in circles. He moved from strickly stock to Diamonds then he went to 6 bangers then even that got too expensive as guys were cutting and welding V8 hi-pro heads and bolting them on a straight 6, machining down the block and short stroking the rods etc, etc. The more things change the more things stay the same I guess LOL. Lets face it. No track can afford to tech to the degree that is warranted. Maybe the payouts should be evened out more. Not that anybody make money racing. :-
Don't gibe up on the series Dave! This has been awesome and a tonne of fun! Best summer of racing yet!
Dave you could not have said it any better. I agree with you 100%. My hat is off to you.
