Motor must be within 1/2 inch of stock location for make of chassis being run effective immediately.
We at Sunset take full responsibility on the none clarification of this rule this is not a single car problem, it is many we will work to the future to make sure that this does not happen again with the help from the competitors.
Mark Dilley
Of all the race track promoters in the province, there's only ONE Mark Dilley, which is too bad. If every track had a Mark Dilley, his job would be a LOT harder to do and keep Sunset successful !
yes, we need more people like mark dilley. maybe he could get a tech guy at peterborough with the balls to dq this years jp favourite.
I would think that along with this new ruling there could be be a provision Stating Tech will be available to discuss in advance ( ? ) days notice any use of parts, or alterations, that a driver or pit crew may have difficulty conforming to by reason of fit or unavailability pertaining to the rules as printed. Tech will have the ability to make exception to the rule, add a penalty weight, or give a grace period (? ) days to conform depending on advantage or no advantage situations also make notice of what was done.
This could be intended to provide good open relationships with tech, it also may promote safer parts over what is being used and put everybody ahead of problems that have a way of cropping up and getting confusing.
hrmmmmmmmm........
Whatever is in the rule book is the bible. I've posted before the clause which almost every speedway has..
"The race director shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications herein
or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable
requirements. No expressed or implied warranty or safety shall result from such alterations of
specifications. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to discretion of the officials. Their
decision is final!"
And of course, this is where the fun begins. If it's in the rules as a specific parameter, allowance, setting, etc., then if you're caught beyond those limitations, yer busted , end of story - unless it's a minor deviation. hrmmm well that's what everybody loves to complain about. Enough... it is what it is.
Racing habits offered that tech should be available in advance to discuss any questionable parts. As a racer, why on earth would I wanna do that ???? *grin*. I'm trying to get an edge, not let the whole world know 🙂
Part of a racer's "job" is to push the limits of the envelope of rules. Anybody not following that philosophy had better find a new hobby, because it's been going on since the first days of bootlegging - moonshine "stock" cars began racing: and there's no end in sight anytime soon.
Blatant violations are easy to spot, the question then becomes one of enforcement. Track management has its hands full on how hard it wants to be disciplined in carrying out tech, paying for training and tools and somehow keeping the track open to out of town cars.
All tracks have challenges, so lets not pick on any one venue, because in these economic times, it's always gonna be a potential roll of the dice how any event unfolds. Every track has its skeletons, history and hardships along with past and present successes.
And Don91......if memory serves, you won August 14th....
But if anyone thinks they're some shenigans going on and want to call it, file the bloody piece of paper with the tech shed and pay yer $100.00 bucks...and THEN you might have your facts straight. That's one rule that every race track has in place. If you don't like the results of the protest - race elsewhere - QED.
As for what happened at Barrie during the Stefko - McColl event, that's something for Barrie's management and tech team to discuss along with the promoters of the Stefko - McColl series. Nothing is engraved in stone. Look at how many NASCAR rulings have been made - weeks after the event was run. If there's a problem with the outcome - it can be changed - but that's up to the promoters.
Jim Belesky has been around a long time and knows what the score is, and he's taking the high road and that's to be commended. The ol saying what goes around, comes around comes to mind...
Where's Stroker Ace when you need him......
