still retired. and still thinkin "what if?"!
the point i was making was i think nascar was going to penalise a driver for using the apron to advance their position, or, or penalise a car that forced another to the apron trying to block a pass, not both, each situation would have one or the other. it's a "discretion" call. lmfao
so, the menard fans only hope was if nascar's wish came true, and smith wrecked stewart, without taking out the following 6 to 20 cars, but we all know a 2 car wreck at that point in the race wasn't going to happen, so, nascar wanted 20 plus lives endangered! i guess?! seems kinda stupid nascar keeps trying to wreck their meal ticket, but to each their own. only so many "racing incidents" before somebody is outta money!
kinda like me! lol
OK Regan Smith did go below the yellow line and if he held his line Stewart would have been in the outside wall. I bet if thit ever happens again with Regan Smith The driver forcing him below the yellow line is going for a nice spin.
The main point is NASCAR stated in the drivers meeting go below the yellow line you are penalized. Force a driver below the yellow line you are penalized. Simple call.
Also about this last lap all bets are off is this true??
I would have love to seen the call if it was Johnson or another chase contender.
Did Tony force Regan below the yellow line? No.
From the comments I read here I have to assume that nobody remembers what it was like at Daytona and Taladega before there was no OB. How nobody was killed in the last few years before OB I don't know. Now as far as Stewart forcing Smith down....Smith never had a fender on him. Smith went high, Stewart blocked, which I think all agree was expected and fair game. Then Stewart moved back down to protect the low side while Smith was completing his fake. Neither Menard nor the 8 sorry it was the 6, were coming with Smith. Menard looked like he had every intention of going to the inside of both of them. Smith hit Stewart in the rear, not on the quarter. No fender inside , no force down IMHO. Smith could have refaked (is that a word) high again but chose not to.
Can we see the video for this as I could have sworn Smith had the fender in under Stewart and Stewart came down on him. Stewart was coming down no matter where Regan Smith was.
I agree Stewart was probably coming back down come hell or high water. With all due respect that is beside the point. They showed a shot of Stewarts car in victory lane. There was damage on the rear bumper, all the way to the left, but still not on the rear quarter. Also as I said before I think Stewart sensed Menard wasn't going with Smith so he went back low to protect that line probably thinking he had stalled Smith up high.
