tons are killed at short track around the country, racing is an very dangerous sport. we know the risk when we strap in a car.
And sorry to say nascar329, it was said in the drivers meeting that you could not go a lap down while in the pits under caution. And it was GM that killed ACT when they pulled their sponsorship. Gues they'd rather put it into golf and other car related sports ??? . And nascar, why should ACT keep itself out of Kawartha racing. It seems the ACT format for the LM's is starting to work out pretty wel. Car counts are slowly rising in a class that is losing cars at other tracks. I'll bet there are more next season as well. Appreciate the support in the 71 bashing but I can't back you on some of your other arguments. Sorry.

Yes, and that's why I was saying to Ernie that it wasn't just the OB rule at Daytona & Talladega that was killing ppl 🙂
LB. I was never trying to claim that racers were not getting killed or seriously hurt at other tracks. Racing is inherently dangerous and is part of the reason why as fans we have such respect for our racing 'heros'. If you remember back to before there was OB at the plate tracks, they were going into turn 1 and 3 way below the line then not being able to hold onto it between the turns. Sometimes there would be two cars below the line. The end of the races were also becoming wreck fests with 4, 5 and 6 wide across the finish line which was, especially at Talladega with the line way past the tri-oval, causing problems into turn 1. The biggest problem with restrictor plate racing is the feeling of invincibility it gives the drivers since they aren't doing 200 mph anymore and the feeling they have is that they are going slow. Plates brought the speed down but at the same time brought everyone together creating a whole new set of problems. I've always thought, and Earnhardt SR said this too, let them go and take down force away at Daytona and Talladega and they won't be able to flat foot it around there. The innovations in roof flaps, ground effects, Hans devices etc have pretty much taken care of the problems that plates were supposed to address so let them go! There still needs to be OB at D and T due to the configuration. I don't know why NASCAR thinks it is a bad thing for teams to dominate. We didn't seem to mind when Petty, Earnhardt, Waltrip etal did it.
Yes, you're correct in the words of it needing to stay and I'm sorry if your words were taken out of context with my post. And honestly, I don't have a problem with one team dominating. I mean, if they've got the talent and the research to do that then kudos to them for working that hard to be dominate in a sport where it can be tough sometimes.
