any dummy can complain about a track promoter.....the guy doesnt know that the cars arnt gonna show.......
I'm sure he can count to seven. That's how many late models were there.
He can also subtract 60 laps from 100 apparently.
His family runs the concession stand...what's his cost for a hot dog and pop? $1.75 maybe
He knew there were 7 cars in the pits, and he stood by and watched the ticket booth sell admission at the price advertised for a 100 lap LM show... in hindsight you could tell that ticket lady was biting her lip about something
I think from a promoter's standpoint, this was supposed to promote the autumn classic...well, it didn't make me circle any dates on my October calendar.....
free food was an opportunity missed.... us fatso's are like stray cats... feed them and they'll be back
if he only advertised in the peterborough area what good is that , how many cars is he going to draw from? i only noticed his rules for the race on his website the day of the race. $1300 pretty good but what is the rest of the payout $50 to start ? how come the tracks in the states do it right ? i get email updates from certain tracks about specials , admission prices , full payouts and these tracks do get full field of cars . plus they do $1 hot dogs & beer nights to to top it off.
i never saw any advertising for this race . why wouldn't they put something even on these boards? the old way of thinking of the drivers will show doesn't apply anymore . the promoters need to do a little work now to get cars.
That's not fair. JP has put ads on the local Chex TV station here in Peterborough, and had plenty of radio commercials throughout the year. He advertises on Ontariooval.com and other places. Why the cars didn't show up, not sure, but there was a lot of activity going on throughout the racing community and not everyone knows how many events a team can run on a long weekend AND afford to do so. I can't think of too many that would run all three days, travel over 500 km's in the process - which may have stung in this particular case...
And to top it all off, traffic on the roads on Sunday in cottage country is in the back of the minds of many. Across the top (Hwy 7 & 12 is always iffy) and up and down the 115 is always crazy as people head back to the GTA.
When I had a car in this event 2 years ago, it was a lot of fun. I hope it can overcome this hiccup and become as successful as Autumn Colours is in October. In my opinion, I would move the Chase for the Colours to the start of the season and have its place as the starting bookend to the Colours. Run it in the last weekend of April or 1st weekend of May; closer to when the track opens in mid-April when everyone is anxious to get racin. I bet it would get the season off to a great start for the entire province.
come on guys lets get real here for a second. who here doesnt look at other tracks schedule when they come out. When you go to performance world in march i grab every tracks schedule and look at them so u have all the info right there in your hand. so the only thing the promoter needs to do is get the fans out to watch. Every race or i mean real racer knows which tracks have specials and when they r.
Chase for the colours aside!! It was a 100 lapper paying $1300 to win with a track like Sunset having a night off!! Cars should have been there!! Cmon it was a invitational ,Don 91 your arguments make no sense! Even if you weren't going to the colours this was an invitaional with the opportunity of it being a good show. I say shame to all the drivers that didn't go and complain afterwards, there was no other race taking car counts away from this show. On top of that Peterboro is a fun place to drive. I say from now on JP should do like a qualifier for Daytona and lock in the front row with this show!
now theres an idea. Cause u damn well know cars will show up then. You honestly should suggest that to JP. I like that idea. Top 2 from the chase for the colors get a lock in the front row.
seriously Don you are going with that?? it was an invitational !! regardless of the colours thing it was a 100 lapper with $1300 to win regardless if you were going in October or not !! WOW where did the racers go??
