Reguarding Kawartha approx 1 month ago heard rumour of possible change there but thought nothing of it .Then see postings for no ACT race Kawartha and then the posting here from Larue that said at last drivers meeting reguarding uncertainty there sure makes a person think whether the rumour change is through. Also did the ACT races draw at Kawartha (fans &cars) and if so this race along with NCTS race would have been there big drawings events. Also I think OSCAAR raced there also. But if ACT rumour is right and no race makes a person think about what is going on there. Also take a look at NCTS 2010 schelude and that will tell you what is happeninng there if they donot schelude anything then the rumours are true.Hope not true but anything can happen.

as I put on another board, the car count for ACT at KD was very good (mid 30s) but fan support was poor. When I got there I thought it would be a good crowd based on the parking lot, but 60% of those people were in the Casino I think playing the slots.
Once again, I wonder how well it was preached (advertised) to non members of the choir. I was wondering also if it would have been better if it had gone back to the old Fall date, but Curley was busy promoting  new tour races at Airborne and New Hampshire for that time period.  KD has the best side by side paved action I've seen in years-JMO
(although I wasn't at the Canadian Tire race, I was told that the spectator count for that race was just as anemic). Maybe Joe Race Fan is just getting "special evented "to death. When I first got in this game, most tracks had one or two big shows a year.
Compare it to present days where you can almost attend a "special" at one different area track every weekend.

What is it like watching a race at Kawartha with the grandstand being on the other side of the horse track?

Ernie-much better view from the horse grandstand than I expected and on cold nights, like a couple of years ago when the ACT race was in Sept., the enclosed stand was a god send. It was warm, there was video replay, and you could hear the announcers (the ACT guy and Spencer, both of whom are very good). I often thought the placement of the temporary stands was a little odd though (just in the corners) except I remember the year that they had the first triple 50s lm sportsman open, they had one of the portable stands on the front straight just out of corner four. I honestly don't know if they ever tried a couple of the temporary stands right on the front straight behind the flag stand.
The only knock on the seats in the covered stand is that the backs are very low, but let's face it. I think they were designed for folks to sit in for 10-15 minutes and then go place bets, rather than occupying for a few hours.

Interesting I thought Kawartha would always have a ACT race with Lynch and Curley
being related .

Great place to watch a race seen the ISMA supers there a few years back.
