Okay, I figured TSN was going to take this opportunity to fix themselves as far as promoting the NASCAR CTS race at Montreal, and I was so..so...wrong.
Vic the _ick does this big promo for the first time the NASCAR series has visited Canada...
Hello Vic... NASCAR Canadian Tire Series has been here since May....
Vic says its the first time the stock cars have taken to the road course at Montreal...
Hello Vic.... We were there last year....
Vic talks about all the Canadian Super Stars in the Busch Race.. Fellows & Patrick...
Hello Vic... What about taking two seconds and saying Fitzpatrick and Kennington....

The entire pre race show is based on the Montreal Road Course, but all the highlight films show other tracks like Atlanta, Texas, and Charlotte... Even a dumb fan can tell the difference between a Oval and a Road Course.

All this hype about the Busch deal is so big and so it should be, but for just one second can they say something about the other NASCAR Series that runs here in Canada full time. This race is a NASCAR event... don't you think between NASCAR and TSN they could have figured out how to get the odd word in about the Canadian Tire Series. Its pretty sad when you have to think about it... even when we were still CASCAR at least they took the time to talk about us.

Who thinks TSN took on the job of marketing the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series just so they could be given the right to air the real NASCAR races, and I say real NASCAR races because it seems that the CTS deal has somehow been forgotten in the big picture.

You might as well have that cook from Lilydale do the race coverage with Vic "boy oh boy do I sound excited" and make a real mess of the hole deal. I thought TSN was brought in to help promote the series and if they were, when are they going to start.
Prior to the start of the race, TSN did there little commercial deal on TSN Sports Update highlights.
They talked about Baseball, they talked about Tiger Golf, and they talked about Hockey---- Hockey.
This is August boys !!
Not one mention of Mixy winning the Montreal Race this morning, but I do know that some guy in baseball is on his 500th home run of the year... big deal boys !!

NASCAR needs to get on the phone and tell them we need better coverage of the Canadian Series.
They need to tell TSN its time to get Vic off of the racing coverage that he knows nothing about, and Lilydale needs to Sponsor a car in the CTS before there meat spoils.

We have a great product here in the NASCAR CTS... lets sell it, before it spoils !!!

I hate to say "I told you so," but...well....I told you this was going to happen....Like I said when the deal was announced, the only reason TSN took NCATS onto its schedule was in order to gain coverage of all of the Nextel Cup and Busch races. That's why they put the races on at crappy hours, that's why they don't care to do the Vic Rauter sets properly and that's why they have no issue taking Lilydale/Crown Royal's money and not filtering it to you guys. Sportsnet seemed to care, but that got pissed away with the sanctioning change...

Dave, no offence...as you know I have been a large fan of your posts, but i really think that you partly missed the boat on this one....TSN never gives updates on OHL scores in the winter time on their newscasts...And thats all the NCATS is...I do agree that some mention of them would ahve been much appreciated, but i think you are too close to the situatiopn to be objective. The best player to play baseball int eh past 20-40 years hitting his 500th home run is MUCH larger sports news than who one the NCATS race...(on of the ten or twelve all year) No offence to you at all, but i think you are a lil too clouded and not objective enopugh in thsi instance. TSN has a viewership and whether you want to admit it or not, they could care less that Micks won today, but i guarantee you they wanted to hear about A-Rod hitting his 500th and the Leafs closing in on Mike Peca...thats jmho, but i think i share that opinion with TSN....

Okay I agree, hitting 500 is huge and yes your right, I am one sided when it comes to sports and auto racing, but man oh man, could this series ever have had a better oppertunity to advance in the sports world with a little bit of press.
I dont knock guys who get a hole in one, or hit 500, or kick a 60 yard field goal, but I would love to see some more attention in the racing coverage for the CTS guys.
I am going to put Tiger Woods in the car for Cayuga, and am going to have Bobby Orr spot with the entire front line from the Hamilton Tiger Cats work the pits.....
I will bet we get coverage !!

I will agree I sometimes get caught up in the production of media coverage in racing, but this is what I think is the outcome of a truly backed sporting event. I am not bashing any other sport, except lawn darts, as I am a fan of all sports, but MY objective is to support NASCAR and Canadian Tire, so call me nuts if you like !!

P.S.- If I was to put Shania Twain in a car, would that get attention ??
Now that would be news worthy and something that would override everything !!

Shania could just sit behind the wheel on pit road for the entire race and I'd still by a ticket. Go sign her Mid. lol
But seriously. I too would like to see the Canadian Tire Series receive better coverage in the media, but I think the cruel facts are that this series is not considered a priority by TV or print media. They don't view NCTS as a major league racing series. In Canada and by a lot of Canadian race fans this series is a big deal. By a majority of casual race fans, this series is unknown. They know the name Nascar, but don't know what the NCTS is. I find in general, a lot of casual fans are familiar with the Cup series and that's all. I'm still hoping that the Nascar branding will at least attract more attention, but I don't think that it will happen over night.
