Who looks after the website? Maybe if the website was kept up to date with all the info ie(drivers, standings, etc.) people would look at it more seriously. So far I'm not impressed.
Buddy- the website works fine. Buy 2 more wheels !!
Pinecrest,
1.- I doubt anyone expects a 10 page article on the race but maybe a page or a half page would have been nice in the Spec (even though its not a paper available here in the GTA it is the local paper ) and as you point out they do benefit from the ad revenue generated from the little bit of advertising that was put out for the race. If you are correct about the series having "big friends" that have leverage we have yet to see it .
I specifically referred Canadian Tire and Dodge. I don't subscribe to the Spec, but it's safe to assume that they spend a considerable amount of money each year advertising in the Spec. I suggested those advertisers apply pressure to the publisher to make sure their races are covered. I didn't bring up the track's advertising or lack thereof for this race. I'd assume that my point went right over your head, if you hadn't attempted the same lame trick with my other statements.
2.- You are wrong when you say Cayuga has massive grandstands the joint sits 14400 which is almost 10 k less then the premiere oval track in Canada sat in the 60s and 70s and a place like Bristol that seats 160,000 is massive.
My statement was "Relative to most Canadian tracks, Cayuga has massive grandstands." What does that have to do with Bristol or long defunct Canadian tracks? If I told you my house was worth $1 million (I wish) would you say that it's a dump because Bill Gates' house is worth $100 million? Your logic is bizarre.
3.- You say you have never seen so many media people at Cayuga ? I am guessing you are relatively new to the sport , perhaps the last 10 years or so when the place has been a ghost town for the most part since I recall the days when DW would hide out in our motorhome to avoid the press after flying in . Its great that the CBC and others had their satellite trucks there unfortunately they failed to report a single thing about the race on the TV or radio. I am glad you mentioned Vic Rauter because I have to ask you if you have ever met anyone in the sports press that knew less about a sport they were reporting on the Rauter ?
I said, "I have never seen so many media people at Cayuga, since the first Canada Day Shootout." If you think you're bright because you chop off parts of peoples' statements and twist them to make a point.... you're not. You're transparently disingenuous. As for the CBC truck, I've since been told that they were there to interview Mark Dilley for a live hit on Newsworld, discussing the entry of NASCAR into Canada and its impact. As for Vic Rauter... how galling it must be for you to know that he makes a nice living discussing motorsports on television, while you.... ummmm... not so much.
4.- You state that it is irrelevant if the PR person at NCTS is not Canadian . You don't understand why the PR person should have a back ground of some sort in Canadian racing or at least have attended some CASCAR races in the past ? Please note the limited effect Shon Sobara has been able to have so far as why . I wont even bother going into why it is important to have Canadians in key positions in a Canadian series since you just don't seem to get it at all .
Again, maybe they should hire you. Once you learn that "background" is one word. Or that there's an apostrophe in "won't". It's a shame to put all your education and racing knowledge to waste. The race director the other night sounded like he came from the deep south. Maybe you should go on a tirade against him, too. God forbid the people who run a multi-billion dollar empire show us how it's done.
5.- No one thought things would magically change when NASCAR came in but nor did they think the purse would regress 30 years to the point were the series was running for less then IMCA modified or many Thunder car purses . Yes the drivers and sponsors are putting their money on the line but at 45 bucks a ticket Canadian fans are being asked to put their money on the line at historic rates now for a product that they are promised will be better in the future .
No one is dragging anyone anywhere. People can make their own decisions about how they want to spend their money. There was no future promise for the people who went to Cayuga the other night. All they were promised was a race. As for the drivers... again, find me one who is getting twisted into knots over the purse. Maybe they're all secretly like you, pining for the good old days when they were getting big money for winning races. Don Biederman was always dancing around singing about how rich he was getting racing stock cars in Canada. Right.
re: "Anyone that wants to play fast and lose [sic] with the facts such as yourself can but many of us don't have rose colored glasses."
You put words in my mouth that I never said. Shame on you. I'll leave it to others to judge who the dishonest one is.
midamerica- One race in and still no list of drivers? Needs some work.
thanks greg -- for pointing things out in a smarter way than I ever could !!! we need about 10 people like you on here to keep the negative posters in there place !!
