I was at the race on Saturday nite, came home right after( 3 Hours yuck). I enjoyed the race to many cautions for some reason maybe the guys were a little rusty after the winter LOL, but what I liked was that when I got Up Sunday morning and went to the website they had it all updated. In the cascar days it took until Monday to get results and that was if you were lucky. Not sure if they were up Saturday nite or not but its nice when you don't get to the races you can find out who won. Because god knows the Windsor star doesn't have any coverage unless Beauchamp wins. I have sent them emails about it and I am going to continue to and I suggest that any one else in the Windsor area do the same.
It was very nice to see that the NASCAR.ca website was updated pretty soon after the race. Lets give everything a chance to get rolling here, and be patient. Mark Dilley has had some great input over the past few months, and basically told us all to wait and see what is going to happen. I hope that as this thing grows, and the media see thats they are dealing with a professional organization, the coverage will increase. We as racers and fans, in my opinion, owe agreat deal of thanks to Greg and ITMN. He and his company have always stepped to the plate, and they are a huge asset to Canadian racing.
Great input and information Greg!

A couple of comments on some of the topics on this thread.
1 . - Tim Miller would fill 10 pages on what happened at Cayuga Speedway if given the space. He was there. I'm sure he filed. Whether it gets on the page or not isn't his call. I wonder how much ad revenue the Spec (and every other daily in this country) gets from Canadian Tire and Dodge ads? Someone should point this out to the Publisher... who might mention it to the Sports Editor. The series has some big friends and that leverage that should be used, IMO.
2 . - Cayuga has massive grandstands. The stands near the start/finish line were mostly full. And there were people 1/2 to 1/3 of the way down the stands for the entire length of the front straight. For the big Canada Day Shootout a few years back, there was a grandstand in turn 3 and the place was jammed. They said there were 12,000 people there. This is just a guess, but using that as a baseline, I'd say there were 4000+ there on Saturday. IMO that's not too bad for a series that didn't have a schedule until six weeks ago. I remember seeing the Cayuga guys at the Toronto Auto Show several months ago in the bizarre position of trying to sell tickets for an event that they weren't technically allowed to say existed. No, 4,000+ (again, my guess) isn't a full house, but it's about 10 times as many people as I've seen at some Cayuga CASCAR races in the time since the Canada Day Shootout. Progress.
3 - I have never seen so many media people at Cayuga, since the first Canada Day Shootout. CBC had a satellite transmission truck in the infield (to file to Radio Canada about Ranger, I'd guess). It was like a rugby scrum after the race in victory lane. In the media room... which for years consisted of myself and 2 other regulars... there was Vic Rauter from TSN (one of several), a guy from Sportsnet...
4 - The nationality of the person filing the stories is irrelevant.
5 - Finally, no one said everything was going to magically change overnight. The ISA said that, and we all saw how that worked out. The drivers and sponsors are the ones who have put their money on the line for this series and I can't find one who feels things are heading the wrong way. Anyone who WANTS to avoid seeing the silver lining will be successful.
Interesting comments Greg but just not very realistic.. Let me examine them point by point .
1.- I doubt anyone expects a 10 page article on the race but maybe a page or a half page would have been nice in the Spec (even though its not a paper available here in the GTA it is the local paper ) and as you point out they do benefit from the ad revenue generated from the little bit of advertising that was put out for the race. If you are correct about the series having "big friends" that have leverage we have yet to see it .
2.- You are wrong when you say Cayuga has massive grandstands the joint sits 14400 which is almost 10 k less then the premiere oval track in Canada sat in the 60s and 70s and a place like Bristol that seats 160,000 is massive.
Your assertion that there was 12000 people at the Canada day shoot out out would seem a little high since Randy Slack told me he estimated the crowd then at about 9 K to 10 K and not knowing you but knowing him I am inclined to believe his estimate. I would also remind you that the people sitting in front of the tower were people that did not pay for their ticket as Evan has already pointed out.
3.- You say you have never seen so many media people at Cayuga ? I am guessing you are relatively new to the sport , perhaps the last 10 years or so when the place has been a ghost town for the most part since I recall the days when DW would hide out in our motorhome to avoid the press after flying in . Its great that the CBC and others had their satellite trucks there unfortunately they failed to report a single thing about the race on the TV or radio. I am glad you mentioned Vic Rauter because I have to ask you if you have ever met anyone in the sports press that knew less about a sport they were reporting on the Rauter ?
4.- You state that it is irrelevant if the PR person at NCTS is not Canadian . You don't understand why the PR person should have a back ground of some sort in Canadian racing or at least have attended some CASCAR races in the past ? Please note the limited effect Shon Sobara has been able to have so far as why . I wont even bother going into why it is important to have Canadians in key positions in a Canadian series since you just don't seem to get it at all .
5.- No one thought things would magically change when NASCAR came in but nor did they think the purse would regress 30 years to the point were the series was running for less then IMCA modified or many Thunder car purses . Yes the drivers and sponsors are putting their money on the line but at 45 bucks a ticket Canadian fans are being asked to put their money on the line at historic rates now for a product that they are promised will be better in the future . Anyone that wants to play fast and lose with the facts such as yourself can but many of us don't have rose colored glasses.
I don't agree with "Mr. Negative" aka Pinecrest.
Cayugas stands ARE massive - in comparison to other Ontario race tracks. What other oval can handle 14000 folks? Maybe back in the "60's or 70's", but not now.
Doesn't matter if the PR agent is Canadian, American, Ukrainian, Egyptian or even a Martian. If they are getting press releases to the press in a timely and effective manner - kudos I say, kudos. They could be sending them from the moon, but as long as all the information is there - it's up to the newspaper/radio station/TV station to use it.
I think the NCTS is making positive progress, and I'm eager to see them when they stop at Barrie twice.
Thanks Greg for pointing out the finer things, and thanks Pinecrest for living in the past. Those were the best years weren't they?
slightly off topic but the press release did mention the race was on sirius. Does anybody know when it was on or what channel, I can't beleive that it would be aired against the bush and truck races but are there going to be any more races broadcast?
