First you ( the track ) has to have a good field of cars ( 3 divisions a night ). Pricing make it affortable.Kids have free entry
with adult ( remember Kids like food, programs ,etc ).Pit gate prices this area scares away a lot of racers ( Why make everybody pay at gate ) Give the driver and possibly  2 pit men free admission to the track and the rest of the people involved with his crew a price lets say $20.00 Remember these are the people that make your show (Drivers ) with out them no show.
You need press & Media to move this product
Results put in paper right away. I know papers have deadlines ( approx 10;00 P.M. most papers. If you are going to miss deadline e-mail or fax results to go in next edition.
In media case contact your local major station or even e-mail all
stations in your area with what is going to happen at your track
or send results this way also.
Another new thing for radio is a show called Race Time Radio (560 AM CFOS Owen Sound ). This show is heard every Monday night at 8 P.M.-9 P.M.This show can be heard on the Net also. You can e-mail your track results and they will air them.Plus if you want to do an interview and put a plug infor your track contact them and they will try to set up an interview with you on air. These are just a few things you could do to get racing going in Ontario if not all Canada

first fix the racing.  Trying to do anything else until the racing is fixed is just a waste of time.

I don't think that's completely true. It's easier to do one, but it's easier to get more people/sponsors on board if you can demonstrate people are coming out. That being said, I think the first track in Ontario that can:
a) Repave/reconstruct the track surface,
b) Increase the purses and lock their rules when they're in common with the tracks around them, and
c) Engage in an "In-your-face" approach to promoting within the general public,
is going to have the greatest amount of success, and be heads and tails above everyone else...

22fan- There is a huge similarity between Coverage and Media, but they are separate as well.
Coverage means following up on Race Events, prior to- at the time- and after the fact, and in most cases this would be covered under Television and Radio Broadcasts.
The Media part tends to be directed towards the coverage by Newspaper, Magazine, TV and Radio News reports. Are they one in the same- Yes, but they do go about it separate way's and directions.

So far there have been some great idea's on here. Keep going !!

Ok. That clears things up a bunch.

With the exception of the latter part of b) you have just described Barrie Speedway.  😀
