Does anyone have any info on the new proposed track near Brechin ? I hear it will be called Ramara Motor Speed Park with all kinds of different motor sports, 260 acres I hear with a .53 mile track like Bristol ? along with a drag strip. Apparently opening in spring 2010 ?

-have the special events tracks like Cayuga stop going head to head with the Saturday weekly tracks. Cayuga's most successful years were when the specials were on Sunday afternoons, giving folks from the Saturday tracks a chance to attend a second venue on the weekend.
-start advertising again in the major city newspapers (and not necessarily in the sports section, but how about in the entertainment section as an alternative to movies). Radio advertising in an overly saturated market isn't going to cut it. For example, I believe Flamboro advertises on a couple of local stations but we have over 40 local choices in this area. Ask ten people what their favourite radio station is, and I bet you get 9 different answers. Radio likely works well in a city like Peterboro where you basically have 3 stations.
-I believe Dave mentioned Service clubs doing food vending. Good idea-best track food I've ever had was provided by various service clubs at Little Valley NY. Very inexpensive and they sold a ton, but I guess their labour cost is almost zero due to volunteer labour. Was a great way to keep the locals happy also re noise, etc. When they saw how much was being contributed to the local community, they become much more tolerant of a race track in an urban area.
-have an action plan, where if weather is threatening, move the top division to the first event run. Don't run it behind a bunch of support divisions, and chance losing the main draw to inclement weather. I had this happen this year at an ROC mod race at Chemung NY. Weather was threating all day, yet they ran 4 minor divisions first and when feature time came for the mods, sure enough it rained. Most drivers (let alone fans) made at least a 250 mile round trip for nothing
-regular shows-how many times have you seen parents carry tired little kids out to their cars long before seeing the feature divisions on some overly long shows (likely vowing not to return) . I like the way Brewerton NY carries out their features. The big blocks mods (the feature division) runs second on the program-first IMCA mods, then Big Blocks, then Mod Lites and 4 cyl super stocks. That way if the show is running long, the adults can leave after the mod feature and still feel they saw what they came for. If the show is running smoothly, folks will stay for all divisions.

Right on Midamerica!......a 2 day event is the only answer for the "special" events.......and that format is correct as well.
I recall the Great Canadian Weekends at Delaware and the 2 day shows at Cayuga. Perfect!
Canadian media leaves our motorsports on the back pages at best. Nothing in the KW record on the NCTS events in the last two weeks.......even though the locals were in the mix all the way.
You can however keep up to date on Pakistan Cricket results........?

The sad part is, mnore ppl in the KW region care more about those pakistan cricket scores than the NCATS

lots of great ideas. i feel we need to hype the drivers, increase fan interest in the drivers and the rest would slowly fall into place. if we want to get fans(not die hards, but the casual fan) to the track the need someone to cheer for and against. heros and villains,as much as i detest it take a look at WWE pack houses most of the time. most people i know watch cup to follow a driver, not the sport, dale sr and jr bring fans, jeff gordon fills seats because most hate him. this is the first year at acms that we have tried to market our drivers in the local press to soon to see if it has worked, we also have a pit reporter in the pits, nothing like a mic in your face after being spun out to start a rivalry, fans love it. the more we can hype our drivers to the public the better we can sell the sport.
