yeah that 27 mustang seemed to be a wreck waiting to happen. I must admit I let my subscription lapse to Inside Track, but I think if they attempted to advertise this race, it might have appeared in the Christmas issue-LOL. You'd think a 3 x 5 ad in the Spec wouldn't cost that much and might have paid for itself by bringing in a few more fans. Amazed what a hard hit Dave Bailey took in the second mini feature and the little stang kept on ticking and hardly looked bruised. Dave must know where to reinforce them.
Merrittville/Ohsweken mini stock champ Abel Castelein (#28) looked pretty good but I'm sure when the temperature starting dropping he may have wished he had taken the screen out and replaced it with a windshield. Bean's #37x dirt Thunder car didn't look out of place. Dave Goodacre's 05 Ohsweken mini looked a little tired after a hard season of slinging clay.
Perhaps they should have done like ACT does with the Vermont Milk Bowl's Triple 50 and use the Monza style points system where the lowest points score overall is the winner. (you know the 1 point for first, two points for second, etc). Then the winner would be the best overall average finisher who might have been the Zardo camaro last night. I was just guessing he might have been the best overall finisher.
As far as redraws, the best I saw this season was at a couple Patriot Sprint Car races-they take the top 8 or 9 drivers from the heats, make them redraw and then they have to give the spot away to another driver (of the 9). It's absolutely hilarious and makes for some interesting strategy.
As far as the sandbagging that went on, perhaps if the 1-2-3-4-5 part of the lap counter was turned off, it might be harder for drivers to figure out how to become the last car on the lead lap to gain advantage on the inversion.
Well since yesterday was so cold at Flamborough and the crowd wasn't very large , I looked over at an empty building that could have been opened for all of us diehardt fans . Next year I'm sure we could even take up a collection for some local charity to even put some heat in the blue Flamborough sponsor's booth . The burgers were great like always and John even greeted us upon entry into the pits . We never quite made it to the end of the final race . It was good to see some top runners from local tracks make the show .....Thanks Everyone , especially the crews.
and talk about karma...that 27 mini saw some a few people were saying, after he took 4 cars out one race then the second he nailed the wall nose first all on his own.
and then fixed it and came back out and wrecked a bunch more in the next race...
A big congrats to the #18 of Jay Cutting, who has worked his ass off all year. The kid ever complained about running with 16 valve Honda's at Sunset, the kid was hooked up all day. A well deserved win for the Cutting's.
Congrats to Jay. Thanks for clarifying who it was. The announcing was poor. No mention of hometrack or hometown and completely uninteligible above row 8. It was amazing how the p.a. was just dead air after the big wreck in the third 50 for the thunders. And there seemed to be no running commentary while the racing was on, not that we could hear it, but perhaps a short range fm transmitter hooked to the p.a. like Merrittville and Ohsweken use might be the answer..............
