No outlaw supers anymore hurts, love em or hate em they draw.
I think the weather definitely played a part, with the wind it must have been close to 0, so I would think had they got it in when it was originally scheduled (and with good weather), it would have drawn better.
I wonder though if maybe they just have too much/too many grandstand seating? Holly molly, there was more seating there then most AHL arena's. I would guess even a good size crowd there must look small, so I cant imagine how few we must have appeared to be on Saturday!
I drove 2 hours each way to make my first visit to Flamboro, and would do it again tomorrow if there was racin, so as a fan, I hope places like this survive!
For now I applaud, and thank, those that fork out week after week to put these shows on, and prey more of you will continue to do it, because, this fan, definitely appreciates it!
One fans opinion! 🙂
Doesn't matter what the weather is at the colours it is packed like Octoberfest used to be.
OSCAAR can't put on a good show at Flamboro. They are as wide and faster, not a lot faster, than Late Models, but have the same issues. This past weekend, at least 7 cars (top runners) slammed the back and front chutes, with the back or side of their cars, coming off the corners, mostly because they were trying to get a good run off the corner and not get freight trained. The inside lane wants to race as well, and he must accelerate hard off the corner and try to keep his car down. They almost always get very loose.....unfortunately the track surface is simply too narrow, needs to be wider. Get a giant UFO to removed Lake Erie or Kalamazoo and plant it in Freelton, then we'll have real racing that won't be as caution filled.......the fan situation is the same all year round. It's true, Flamboro a third full has as many fans as those who are packed, it can hold 5000 to 6000 fans. The problem is creative advertising and promotion. Tracks must go after their fan business, they can't expect them just to show up, and a few radio ads are not enough.
Actually Gary, I disagree about supers at flammy. Some of the best races I have seen Oscaar run were in fact at flammy. It has long chutes to use those big motors, and being that they are a "real" racecar, they turn the center of those tight turns amazingly! Hope it just gets a pave soon, otherwise it's perfect the way it is. Not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers, just my opinion.
