Will it run today?
Suns shining five miles from track, pavements dry
i couldnt make it...i heard that it's re scheduled for tomorrow (sunday) and that there were a number of out of towners...one driver could take home over $1500..
YEP, they called it. It was truly bizarre. It was clear all around the track, but at the track it spitted or rained off and on all day. pretty frustrating to say the least. At one point they had everything on wheels running to try not to loose the track. There were minis, thunders, tow trucks, pickups, road cars all going at the same time. Even saw Dave Franks out there on his golf cart at one point! It was crazy.
Then it started raining heavier and a lot of cars pulled off. That left a lot of room on a really wet track. So the few of us that were left started running a little faster to test ourselves.
It gave me a whole new respect for those racers who actually race in the rain.
I think the track reminds me of a character in the L'il Abner comic strip named Joe Btfsplk (no vowels so creator Al Kapp said to pronounce it like a raspberry-put yours lips together and blow). He perpetually had a dark cloud over his head and was said to bring bad luck to anyone he contacted.
After last week's Wrecktoberfest, I was wondering if the place was built on an ancient native graveyard.
