all you guys do is bitch about everything. If you want to get serious about it make the commitment or else it will never change. You want more trucks or a faster top 5? which is it? a handful of racecars isn't going to make a show. You lobby for change and if you don't get leave...pretty simple formula.
Eventually the track owners might get the picture.
valid points...too bad some don't listen.... but then they never will...
awesome year over at the OSS , when are you making the move to Oscar?
In my opinion: trucks are too heavy when you have to add 400 ibs to a race car or truck, it becomes a weapon not a race vehicle, unless you are running cars and trucks built like nascar use.
Track is looking for ways to cut costs, truck class for example.
Lower the weight to 3100 lbs, save on costs of lead. We will also save on tires, brakes, steering parts, wheel bearing, transmission and U joints. Run disk brakes on the back (optional), and run same gear ratio 9" ford only with 6000 chip.
Engines set horse power limit. Run any crate or built engine you want with same horse power.
Ford in chev or chev in ford, same for dodge, this will help to keep costs down and make racing more interesting for the fans and will bring more people to the top of the hill.
Many people tell me it is too boring watching a bunch of chev chasing each other around the track, so let's get more dodges and fords out there to make it more interesting, let's put ford or dodge engines in some of the chevs or whatever you might have laying around, put it together and let's go racing.
It's very hard to cut costs in our days, building race cars or trucks out of the auto wreckers are gone. If you want to be competitive, you have to buy over the counter and pay the price. If a tire is $150, McColl racing is not going to sell it for $75. It is not like the old days when you bought most parts at the auto wreckers, if the part was $50 and you got it for $20.
Rules
Heard alot about track changing rules, I agree, but if racers didn't break the rules, there would be no problem, would there.
We need to let the tech guys do there jobs (don't over rule). When someone gets caught don't give them 3 weeks to fix it, that's like telling Joe Blow to cheat for another 3 weeks. Payout has to increase, not many ways to cut costs in today's racing. Track owners have to knock on more doors and get more sponsorship to pay the teams and drivers, track was built in 1952, and all I heard over the years, track is not making money, but the track is still there.

PS
I think setting same gear ratio for everyone, would be good but maybe we need to be able to change chips, let's say from 6000 through to 6400, this will help from hitting the chip too early down the straight away. Your not going to gain alot in speed because everyone will have the same gear ratio. You could work with smaller or bigger tires, but chips are alot cheaper than tires.
maybe trucks should consider adding a couple of other tracks to their schedule, like when they ran barrie years ago, maybe even a dirt race like nascar is considering....might get a few new teams interested, but maybe not..lol..
id be in for a few out of town races at different tracks....
I would be all for a race or two at a different track. I really don't think the trucks should try to take the same path as the modifies did though. It is too much time and money to be travailing around. To set aside one weekend to travel is OK, but every other i think would be too much for most people. The people who want to travel every weekend have already got a sportsman car.
At 3100 lb there is no way to get the percentages right. I think some of guys are actually over weight to get the percentages where they want them. Light means light parts which is $$$. I might have 200lb of lead in the truck if that, and I am the lightest driver out there.
