Mars is a bottom feeder of a sponsor.
From their days of underfunding M2B, making a joke of Irvan in his final years, to moving to a desperate Yates operation. Then once the market softened and sponsorship prices were down, only then their made their move to a big budget team as a part time sponsor. Any sponsor with any class and respect for the sport stick with a team, working with them to win, not looking for the cheapest deal they can snatch up.
They think they are in a position to make major calls on the sport? Do you really want that sort of spotlight on you considering your record and pathetic level of support Mars? Your sponsorship makes any can look gay anyhow. Go sponsor Honaday, would be a perfect fit..
are you a moron . Sponsors look for the best bang for their buck, same as everyone. Its about creating revenue thats it. Any amount of sponsorship is great , atleast they're spending it on racing.
This isn't about a driver being worried that "a move" will affect the teams or sponsors. This is about a driver who's last six years in the sport have been FULL of "moves" that affect the teams and sponsors. It just took trying to kill Ron Hornaday as the last straw.
David Reutimann just so happens to need a job. You wanna talk about a fan favourite and an ideal spokesman for a candy company that markets to kids? Think about it, JG....
yep MARS got a million dollars worth of free publicity with this. Good or bad every buddy is talking about Kyle and M&M. I still think Kyles the official tool of NASCAR
I just love it when everyone gets their knickers all twisted up about stuff that happens in NASCAR.
But my thoughts are simply that Nascar had to do what it had to do. I could be wrong, but an intentional take-out during a caution flag is something they would need to jump on quick, lest it become an acceptable tactic.
Sort of like how Dale Sr made the "bump and run" be seen as fashionable instead of dirty...and giving birth to the whole "rubbin is racin" thing. "Dumpin under yella is raycin"...I can hear Robert Duvall saying it now...and giving race fans another rediculous statement to put on their ball caps and on the backs of their pickup trucks. But I digress. 😉
Although I find it interesting that the outrage likely wouldn't be there if it was one of the more charismatic drivers. Unfortunately, part of Kyle's trouble is he just...well, he just LOOKS like a dork, even when he's not being one.
Kevin Harvick confirmed the rumours in an interview this morning that Kyle Busch Motorsports has offered Ron Hornaday the # 18 NCTS ride for the 2012 season. No word yet on Hornadays response but this is a nice gesture on Kyle's part to make amends in my opinion.
