I think LMFAN raises some good points; not only does speed cost money in direct, predictable ways, but also remember that "a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link", and I am sure that as the speeds increase, those links will be identified.

More speed = more brakes?

More speed = higher cornering forces = stronger suspension components?

More speed = ??

Perhaps some of the teams from other tracks that have recently been upgraded could shed some light here and share their experiences?

They never had these problems when the track was new with 2 lanes plus it was the talk of the tour guys as a great track to run on. SS had to do something with rules or they might just as well have been enduros.

Thats a novel way to look at the problem with the enduros, lol

The cars will be roughly 1 and a half seconds quicker on new surface.
With more speed comes more money.
I think if the track gets resurfaced it need to be made smaller or we need to slow the cars down.
The main question is what's the best solution without a huge cost factor for the teams

LMFAN is right on the money. I would like to see the track made smaller.

My idea for resurfacing, is maybe add a new pad like the one already installed. It is possible to add some banking to it, but will definitely cost a good chunk of change. It will probably make the walls (in the corners if properly done a 12 -18 inches higher) require work as well. Even if they did the corners, and end walls it would make a huge difference. I see nearly every class bottom out in turn four, and bounce for half the front stretch. There is no doubt speed will be increased, if the whole track is done. But it would be awesome to have door to door racing that isn't wrecking cars. I do believe there has been a lot of wiggles, and wrecks caused by the shoddy corners. Please correct me if I am wrong. Also guys fighting for positions, has cost a TON of wrecked panels and black flags. Seriously, half the track soap opera would disappear if the guys could race/pass each other.
