Team CANUSA Closes Our Season – Top-Five in Race and Championship

(Dorchester, ON) – The CANUSA Motorsports Team hit the track for the final time in 2010 Friday September 17th at Delaware Speedway.  With Jamie Ramsay at the controls of the CANUSA / APC / Total Chevrolet Impala SS, they entered the night fourth in the championship standings, and looking to close out the season with win number two.  The team would also be keeping track of where Andrew Gresel was running, as he was the driver Ramsay was gunning for in the standings.

The night started with qualifying, and Jamie ripped off a time good enough for the fourth fastest lap of the session.  Ramsay spoke about his lap, “We wanted to put it on the pole, and then worry about the #81 [Gresel] after that.  We can’t control what he does, we can only put up the best finish we can.”

Jamie closed the season with the final 35-lapper of the season and started fourth following the inversion.  He fell into line in fourth, and was able to pass Doug Stewart for third on lap 10.  Eight laps later he would get past Gresel, who led early on, and started his pursuit of leader Matt Pritiko.  Shawn Thompson would close on Ramsay as time ran out in the feature, and a late restart would give Jamie a shot at Pritiko, but a second-place finish was all the #22 could muster.  “We had a little bad luck on the start, but the car was the best it’s been all season.  I was looking for that late caution, but I didn’t have enough to get him.  At the end, I also had to worry about Sheridan, who had moved into third.”

1. Pritiko, 2. Jamie Ramsay, 3. Sheridan, 4. Thompson, 5. Mat Box.

Ramsay ended the season fourth in the championship points standings, eight markers behind Gresel, but Jamie was still pleased with the season overall, stating, “We had a little bad luck at the start and dropped out of the first two races, as well as a wreck at mid-season, but we also made more trips to the tech shack then we ever had before.  For us last year, it was a tremendous night if we were able to get into the top-five.  This year, we were in the top-five almost every time out.  I can’t say enough about how proud I am of the guys.  They gave up so many hours all season working as part of the team, and all that hard work showed up on Friday nights.”

Ramsay also finished the season fourth in the provincial points standings, and is currently 56th in the National standings.
