I agree with chap. If the peeps are coming to sit in the seats, which they seem to be in fairly large numbers compared to the rest of the tracks in Ontario..... and the cars keep coming, they seem to in fairly large numbers for whatever reason aswell. I'm thinkin their making some money... so whats the problem? Why would you dump X million into something you dont own or have a lease long enough to recoup your costs?

It is what it is...... its delaware speedway and I love running there!!! But I do hope for a day when it does get a facelift, it will be even more cool to run then.

It sure is what it is, and this year a lot of of drivers did not make all the events they could have, when their fans know this, there is no reason for them to go ????

That may be true to some degree. However the two big shows we ran there this year I had more than one person come to me and say. We're glad your here today, because we cheer for you when your out and when you dont race hear we cheer for so and so. I think race fans are a pretty dedicated bunch. They pull for there favourite drivers yes but basically their there to see racing.

Racer43,

There's merit in what you say. Bruton Smith (SMI) however has found a formula that works. The more improvements you make, the more likely fans will come back over and over again. Fans are a smart bunch these days. They want value for their entertainment dollar, everything from restrooms to fast concession service, let alone quality racing.

Now I'm not suggesting that Delaware needs a multi-million dollar overhaul, but it could stand to make some updates every year it can afford to do so. The challenge is the way the track is owned (Leased). It's not rocket science. Motorsports today while not on life support, has vulnerability to maintaining and increasing its fan base.

I still don't know how Riverside in Nova Scotia pays the bills. John Chisholm has spent a fortune upgrading the venue after he bought it back from the estate of Derek Vandalin. He rebuilt the entire facility, asphalt, concrete walls, lighting, stands, even a new press box!!! Clearly he believed improvements would maintain and increase its attendance for all its events. I would submit that is the same formula Smith has used and it DOES work.
