I think the Royal Canadian Mint is looking for the old pennies to melt down and sell the copper, They are probably worth about 2.5 cents after smelting

If you're looking to just get shit done and counted, TD Canada Trust now offeres a counting machine at most of their branches. I made use of this last week. You just dump the coins in a trough and it does the sorting. When finished, it gives you a printout that you present to a teller and Badabing Badaboom you got paper money again.

I had $267 worth of coins, all counted and exchanged in 5mins

What do they charge for that? Most machines at grocery stores take 10% and I am too cheap for that.

They charge $0. Or thats 0% if you like percentages.
