What is this all about? I dont remember the points being posted on the website in this manner in years past?? I can only assume they are doing it this way because of the Urlin / Demelo 99 car, even so they have Barry Newman listed with 140 points on both standings.

Owners and drivers points have always been separate, but have been difficult to display properly on the website.  This season we were able to get the design to display properly with our new database.

Barry drove the car once and Russ Urlin drove the car once, I dont see Russ on the drivers list?

The race that Russ Urlin ran was the pre-season shootout, a rare event where it did not matter who drove the car, the 75 showup points were applied to any primary driver of the car -- in this case for the moment, Barry Newman.  Since Russ was only racing once, it did not make sense to have him at the bottom of the list with 75 points the rest of the year.  It is possible to end up with two drivers on the drivers points side with the same car number.

Why is Hooker way down on the owners list? Did he have issues at some point in tech?

There are no issues with Kirk Hooker's race vehicle in tech.  The error was on the points database and related to how it processes the "H" in his number "38H".  The new system was not originally able to handle it properly, it can now and has been updated online.  Apologies to Kirk Hooker for the confusion.

This is confusing to a simpleton like myself, am the only one that doesnt get why they are doing it this way? The late models are the only division that the points standings are different from owner to driver?

All divisions make use of driver / owner points.  Famous examples would be the #9 of DJ DeJesus rotating drivers last season, or #33 Truck with Paul Fothergill and Sid McDonald.  For the most part drivers and owners are the same, but there are occasions where a car owner will have another person drive.

Remember, the owners points champion this season also wins the tool box from FT Garage.

Is the handicap system based on owner or driver points?

The handicap system is based on owners points (car #), regardless of who drives it.  If you were to let me drive your car this week, I would start in the same heat race as you would have (except I would be classed as a rookie and sent to the back…  But now I’m just needlessly complicating this).  You get the idea though - - the handicapping is tied to the car # / vehicle, not the person driving it.

It is, however, worth noting that penalties applied to owners points cannot be used to gain an advantage in the handicapping system, as the three week average is based on the feature race points that would have been given to the team before penalties.

----

Behind the scenes there has been a big change to how points are calculated and displayed.  We are currently using mylaps.com as our results display as it provides a lot more information than what we can provide normally (lap times, best laps, differential to leader etc…) and we are using a new points database to generate the points and handicapping averages - - similar to the system that was used 3 years ago, but with a number of key updates (such as owners points displaying more clearly).

The points and results display is never in its final form, as we’re always looking to make it better - - but this is all fairly close to where it will stay this season unless there are major issues with it.

OK, so which one is used for the end of season points fund? The owners? Or is that just for the toolbox?
