FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Delaware, Ont. - The racing season is underway at Delaware Speedway and this season’s APC Summer Showdown event featuring Nascar Superstars Michael Waltrip, Clint Bowyer, and Travis Pastrana will help make a difference to health care patients and their families in Southwestern Ontario.
Delaware Speedway will be donating a portion of the proceeds from each ticket to the APC Summer Showdown to be held on July 18 at 8 pm as well as the proceeds from the track’s 50/50 draw for the day to London Health Sciences Foundation.
NASCAR Superstars Michael Waltrip, Clint Bowyer, and Travis Pastrana are racing in the APC Summer Showdown and are donating any prize money they earn during the event. The #22 FT Garage Late Model team with driver Jamie Cox of Dorchester, sponsored by Total Lubricants, Stubbs Communications, London City Chrysler, CANUSA Automotive Warehousing, and APC, will also be contributing their winnings from the day to the foundation. Two other drivers, Matt Pritiko (#21) of London sponsored by Burwell Auto Body and Jonathan Urlin (#4) of London sponsored by Budget Rent a Car also plan to donate their winnings from the event to the cause.
“The APC Summer Showdown is the biggest event of the summer at the speedway,” explains track announcer John Houghton. “Working with our partners at Auto Parts Centres, this is an excellent opportunity to give back to the community.”

Kudos to Delaware and the Showdown competitors. I have had to use the services at UH, St Joe's and Vic over the last 6 months and the people that work at these Hospitals are all topnotch and can use all the support they can get. I know there has been a lot of controversy with the administration of LHSC over the last year or so but the foundation is somewhat separate from that and they do good work. Before anyone gets down on the NASCAR guys for 'only' donating their winnings and not their fees please keep in mind that they also do these events for their own charitable foundations and a good part of their fees go to those. The winnings to the regular Delaware competitors obviously mean more to them so a thank you to their sponsors is also in order I assume.
Again thanks Delaware and racers.
Wow. This is great news and good or our sport. Just one more example of our racing family coming together to make our surrounding communities better for us all. I am sure that the LHSC has had some sort of impact on most of our lives at one point in time or another. Some of us more recently and personally then others. Being from the later group,I would like to personally say thank you to all those that made this event happen. Also, good luck to all competitors, specially those donating their winnings ;). I sure hope that I am able to attend this event. I miss driving racecars, but more then that I miss seeing all my friends that gather at the track. So here is to seeing you there. I would hold up a beverage to toast but these days water will have to do. ;D
Jamie Ramsay.
Jamie, I had heard you were going thru some health issues. From all of us on the SS #77 team all the best for a strong recovery and hope to see you soon at the track!!! Matt/Darrell Lake
