Delaware Speedway, the London and area destination for fast summer fun is set to open this Friday evening (May 6) for its historic 60th season of racing. Excitement is high for drivers and fans leading into opening night sponsored by Sundance Balloons. The racing lineup for the evening features three of the track’s NASCAR Whelen Series divisions: the FT Garage Late Models, Dynamic Fluid Super Stocks, and Demar Aggregates Trucks. Spectator gates open at 6:00 pm, the green flag will fly at 8:00 pm.
The evening promises to be a fun one with a number of special programs in place:
- All three divisions will be operating under a new lineup system which promises to promote strong competition and will easier for fans and drivers to keep track of throughout the evening.
- Delaware Speedway’s famous toonie hotdogs will be available from the concession stand from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
- The always entertaining Hoppy the Clown will also be around the facility before the event to entertain the kids.
- Fans can tune into the track P.A. feed on 89.1 fm at the track.
- Dynamic Fluid Super Stocks have a few cars with new looks to them. A handful of drivers will be piloting new Chevrolet Camaros and Ford Mustangs in the series.
- Fans with mobile devices can tie into the track’s twitter tag at #delawarespeedway to see live updates from race teams and the broadcast tower and participate in the conversation themselves. Apple mobile devices with the rMonitor app installed can also tie into the track’s DelaNET timing and scoring system.
- Opening night will debut the new Delaware Speedway Kids Club, which will run behind the broadcast tower from 6:15 pm to 7:30 pm. The program is free of charge and is open to kids aged 7-12. Activities throughout the season will include crafts, games, meeting drivers, special track tours and more.
Celebrating its 60th anniversary, Delaware Speedway is a half-mile paved oval stock-car track located just west of London, Ontario, Canada. Since 1952, Delaware Speedway has been the home to some of the best stock car racing in Canada. Its unique natural amphitheatre-like setting allows a family or group of friends to enjoy exciting, comfortable and affordable evening or afternoon of fast summer fun. looking at the weather looks like rain for Friday if so does that mean that opening night would be Saturday or next Friday cause it would be nice to see the race on Saturday
