has anyone heard what is going on with vacuum rule for enduros. I know that they checked all the cars that finished after the race and most didnt pass, are they droppoing it or just letting cars go. I see finishing orders didnt change so obviously they are not penalizing anyone who didnt make 18inches. anyone hear anything?
I think it was mainly a learning experience for the tech guys. I don't think they were overly suprised about this fact, and most of the time... you can get them within spec (+/- a few points). There are a few things you can do to get them there, but I don't want to post those. I think it's really if you finish top five will they tear you apart. Most carb'd cars in the mid80's were 17 at 8' timing initial at idle. Mild cammed engines will be around 13, and mild being even factory ground specs with a narow lobe separation at the camshaft.
So in essence, unless you were like 8 inches and idling like a top fueler, I highly doubt it was an issue. Engines are only part of it out there anyway... I rarely see the point of over building them. I tried that when I was younger/dumber... and usually cost me lots of money. Secondly, if 80% of the field is too low, and you piss them all off...... it may be very quiet come next race.

Rule changed on the web
Hey Dougy109. U say that most guys with mild cams and even stock motors will me around 13, Then rules say no less then 17. Is this going to be a big problem for most of the guys to hit? I really hope that this doesn't affect the class to much, shit they hurt to get 50 cars know. Shit I hope there is a class still to run in. LOL Im building a 1982 regal if ya got any good tips.
Even the crates had a hard time with it, so like i said, im hard pressed to say what you can do here. I will say this, no one was upset by what they saw. I cannot speak for Tech, but I dont think they were suprised at the findings. Even crates motors were low....... cmon now 🙂 If you were crazy low, and silly setup I think they would've said something.
Many of the top guys run crates, they went through tech and didn't get beat up too bad by tech. We stuck around, and watched many things get inspected. In other words, the tech guys are doing fine with it. I think most of us are overthinking it.
